we r planning a trip to the colorado river area at the end of this month. with that said all the parties involved all agreed on going to havasu in the beginning. now all of a sudden someone who was invited chimed in and said "oh hey i have an aunt that lives in big river". which means our endeavor may take us to the parker area for boating festivites. the only thing about this development is i am NOT! a parker fan. i have not been in 5 years cause of bad experiances and i am just not a parker fan. being limited to narrow north and south driving and worring about what time to hit the water bothers me. i just want to drive my boat and not worry if im gonna hit something. i have friends that invite me all the time and all of them have hit something in the shallow ness at least once (experiance boaters all of them). in havasu i can hit the water any time anyday and not worry about buying an outdrive or a prop and dont IMO have to worry so much about traffic, havasu is very open and if you want to just disapear for the day you can and if you want to get into the mix you can. so if it comes down to parker being the destination do i go or dont go given the senarios. (i prob will do what i do and thats havasu.) been doing it for 17 years 8 of those as a boat owner. i have never put any boat i own in any of the river sections like parker blythe or laughlin and ive never been past needles bridge from havasu (not the 40) what do i do? i want to hang out with these people but parker is going to be a deal breaker for me.

My .02 cents.

Do what YOU want to do!

I'd try Parker for a day then if you still don't like it, Havasu is 45 minutes away. If you want to hang with your peeps, try it then decide. I'm also not a huge fan of Parker but I did but my 24' in last year and had a blast. No damage to any running gear etc. (well maybe my liver took a hit!)

Are they boating around Big River or heading up to the Parker Strip? Parker Strip would be an awesome trip, go and enjoy. Prop boat down below and I would have my doubts also.

supposedly the guys aunt has a hse on the water in big river so we would go from there to parker and everything inbetween and looking at arial shots of the river between big river and the bridge there is a lot of rocky sand bar looking things and i dont want to hit anything by the time its go time i will have had my prop tweeked and finished by bronson hill props and if i jack that thing up ill be friggen pissed:|err

You can't get from Big River to the Parker Strip on the water. There's this big dam thing in the way.

And if that's your boat in your avatar, don't even think of running in the Big River area. Unless replacing props and drives is your thing.

Parker isn't bad if you know where you're going, or have someone with you who does. There's only a couple spots to worry about. South of Red Rock, Rock Island and the AZ side of barefoot alley can be trouble. If you're not sure, wait for a few boats similar to yours to go through, and follow in their wake.

Then maybe you should try to find a used cheap prop to use some place just for the river so if you hit something you will only be a little mad and not fully mad. You don't need the to have the fastes boat on the river with a cheaper prop on, You just need the fastes prop for the lake.;):D Just an idea is all. See if joel has a used prop in the back for you cheap.

I'm pretty sure Parker is closed for the summer due to low water and multiple drives and props scattered throughout the river, Havi is your best bet :D

hey boat cop thanks for chiming in you were actually the one i wanted to hear from the most. from what Ive gathered on the board i understand you an officer that patrols the water in Parker you info is great thank you very much and i think havasu is going to be our destination. it looks like its gonna be just me and the wife celebrating a belated birthday for me hopefully we will run into some of the folks we met at the buffalo inn last thursday night and make a weekend of it. i am not in the mood to destroy a prop or a drive ive got a couple of bucks stashed away but not to spend on props or drives:)sphss
