new fuel pump blues!

okay fellas.
i ordered a holley 110gph manual pump for my uncles 496bbc

the stock pump worked fine but wouldn't keep up with the fuel demands.

put the holley pump on wont do shit:|errive had it on and off atleast 5 times trying to figure out wtf.

you can sit it on a bench and push the arm on the pump yourself and it will suck on your finger and blow air.its hard to push but you can do it.

i have put the stock one on there and it picks up fuel as soon as i start cranking it.

i have also poured gas down the fuel line to try to prime the new pump.i have run the boat until the bowls run dry and it wont read shit on the gauge.

HELP:)hand

Travis, I know you have already checked inlet and outlet lines???? And hold the pumps side by side and see if pump arms are the same. If all is right:)sphss must be bad pump! Coby
i have done all of this:mad:makes me mad:|errcant by anything worth a shit anymore:)st

they look exactly the same and you can see where the pushrods is rubbing on the new pump arm.:)
Get a Clay Smith fuel pump and be done with it already!
just throwing this out there, dont have the inlet/outlet lines crossed ? i run the carter race pump and the inlet is a -10 an and outlet is a -8 an fitting it's hard to mix them up but i think the holley has the same fitting size for both.

best of luck.

The hook inside the pump, diaphram to the lever is probly un hooked, had this problem before on the new holley pumps. Take it apart, and re hook it, it's not easy to do but you will manage. Good luck
okay got the tape measure out and went to measuring.

the new pump has about a 1/4 inch difference in the arm.meaning the stroke is way off from the stock(shorter)and a totally different angle.was hard for me to notice when side by side just glancing, but when i measured it is very noticeable.

so i called jegs.they said they will swap out with me.i asked if the other new i was gonna get will be the same way.said these days never know, lol!!!!
well thats great.:)sphss

maybe holley put the wrong arm in the housing,12-454-11 is stamped on the housing, but the sob wont work.

my brother has the same pump on his boat, works great.oh well guess i will see on thursday:):)punch

you buy one of those Clay Smith pumps and you'll know what you're getting every time. Those are hand built buy a real American at their place in Buena Park, CA using USA made castings and parts.

just sayin .....
