yep, I think it turns better when you have a ton of weight.
i dont lube the ball but i spray a silicone based spray lube in the tounge of my trailers for all the mechanisms and what ever rubs off onto the ball rubs off on the ball
No because when I un hook the boat you can always bet that im going to rub my shorts on the ball, While I unload stuff from the back of the suburban.
My trailer used to stick until I started greasing the ball.....is inevitable that it gets on you though
I grease is every once in a while. It pops off so much easier.

And yes, its likely that I get it on myself.
Sure. One of the many tid bits my Dad taught me.
I get my balls greased on a regular basis :)grn
An ungreased ball can gouge the socket.
X2.....on grease, i've seen the ball come loose cause of the friction.
i try to do it every time we get ready to pull it out of the storage. a quick smear of grease.
:)bulb:)bulb, ah, grease it and then, for about $2 bucks they make the lil rubber boot to put over the greased ball, ah, no, more mess........:)bulb:)bulb
now you know the secret weedhopper:)hand:)hand

X 2. But the guys that do it, Say they notice the ride in the truck is not as noise from the trailer over bumps, smoother ride in the truck and better turning.:)Unsure
Comment:

I use the can grease Lithium it is nice and neat and keeps the trailer nice and quiet. Turns are smooth and squeak free.

I agree about getting that stuff on your pants swimsuit but usually the boat is always hooked up to the truck so it really is a non-issue when boating. It does become a pain if you un-hitch for loading purposes if that is the case always take it off---you will appreciate it more when your not trying to get grease out of your nice docker shorts:D.

KAP
A little lube will do ya.

Its suppose to get on your girl, not you!
I've never heard of that before but the next time I head out I think I'm gonna grease my ball and see if it works better when lubed up!

Thanks for the info!

Just get one of those little black condoms ;) for the ball...works good in keeping it off your pants. Tow a heavy trailer w/o grease..with tongue weight, you'll see gouges in the ball after a while. Can't be good.

What really concerns me is how many of you have problems with greasy balls hitting your knees. You guys are old! ;)
