Hi, I live in both the Maricopa area south east of Phoenix and also at Lyman lake in eastern Arizona north of Springerville ( about an hour east of Show Low). I've been communting back and forth each week. I love the drive.

I have a 18' Rogers jet and a 18' Hondo flat bottom though neither is runng just yet. The Hondo flattie is very close, the jet, maybe later in the summer.
Just looking to meet and make friends who have interests in high performance boating here in Az and maybe western New Mexico (Lyman lake in Az is only abourt a dozen miles from the NM border).

I also love drag racing, hot rods, musclecars, etc.

Thanks,

Steve

Hey Steve:)hand
I'm also pretty new to this board, and just recently moved to Tempe. Still on the job hunt...
I've got a 24' Pantera offshore that is also currently in pieces (see comment on job hunt).
I've had the chance to meet a couple guys from here since being out here, and everyone has been great.
Wouldn't mind tipping back a cold one with a fellow boater anytime the opportunity arises.
Someone needs to explain to you the rules that require you to post pictures of your wife/girlfriend before you post your 5th post!!!!!:D Your boat can be posted by the 8-10th post unless you post a pic of your boat and G/F together!!!

it's in the PB bylaws!!!!!!!

By the way, welcome.
Sorry....no wife....no girlfriend at this time ( I guess you call that 'in between girl friends'). No kids either. Single and happy about it.
Just me and my stuff. I love to work on engines, machining, welding, high performance cars & boats, typical gearhead- blowers, nitromethane, inches, etc, etc, etc. Kinda' deep into it. Never tire of it. I try to do most of my own work on everything.
Welcome! I am new on the forum too, joined earlier today. Gearhead here too. Looks like we share some of the same passions. I am a Pontiac nut and own a 64 GTO. Last week I was at a friends shop where we fired off a nostalgia 392 Hemi powered dragster running on 90% nitro. :)devil

I am in San Diego area. See you around on the forum. :)
welcome to pb. we have a great group that runs out at saguro lake. one of us will post up what day they are going and others from the group will chime in and say if they can go. i also like to drag race but i do mine in the sand. well most of us will be out at sag for the 4 but some are out of town at the river.
I'm just a wanna-be gearhead, and trying to learn. I didn't have a Father that was very mechanical, but I am, just don't have the experience, and usually learn from mistakes...:|err

No wonder you have so much nice shit!!!!!
Welcome, I'm cave and I have a boating problem:D I also like to break things that have a rotating assembly :)coffee:D

Steve, Have you ever Raced the big one in St Johns? The one tha PRO Auto puts on? Also have you been on that lake just outside of Showlow, here there is some good walleye and grayling fishing in that lake ? I've seen people water skiing on it, and some nice big boats.
Thanks for the replies everyone! Yes, I have a lot of stuff but, I also do NOT many 'normal' things that most of you probably have. Sold my home in Chandler in '05 when the market was hot. Have lived simply on 5 acres near Maricopa since and will for another few years until I build at my new acreage near St Johns and Lyman lake.
Also, having a lot of stuff keeps me pretty broke cash wise. Maybe some can relate????
I get some $$ and it goes into one of my mechanical 'kids'. I bought things over the years when I had the $$$ and have built up probably more than I will ever use.

I enjoy going to Saguaro and have since I was 5 years old. Haven't been there ( on the water ) since about 1999. That was the last year my Rogers was in the water ( too long ). With all the other projects, especially the Top Fuel car, the boats had to wait a while.
I really look forward to being back on the water with both boats. The v drive has yet to be in the water with me owning it (bought in 2004). It has a one of a kind blown M/T HEMI Pontiac engine for power.
I remember getting a ride in a 18' flat bottom at Roosevelt in the late 70's and it made quite an impression on me.
The Rogers jet was a blast all through the 90s on Sag, Canyon and Havasu primarily. Really great times on the lakes and rivers with the jet.
Can't wait to be on the water soon!
Been working on the trailer for the Rogers jet the last few days. New timbers, carpet, paint, wiring, tires. Tommorrow, I'll put it back under the hull. Waiting for the balance assembly to be finished so I can assemble the 541" Pontiac motor for it.
Tonight, working on the v drive. Hope to have it on the water in a week or so.

It seems all of my past boating friends have either married and gotten out of it or have moved away.
I enjoyed wake boarding behind my jet. It's a blast. You need boating friends to do that of course. Need to get back into that too.
Looking forward to hanging out with people with the same interests some time.

S2k1- Have you ever ben to the California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield? That is the place to be in Oct. We are going to try to bring my AA/Fueler there this year, money permitting.....

Cobra- "the big one at St Johns?" Are you talking about the Grand Prix there? If so, that event has been killed off a few years back. It is my desire to bring back some type of motorsports event to that area though.. I am starting out with a 'Motorsports day" on Sat Aug 29 at St Johns city park. It'll be a cool show for cars, trucks and boats too. If I can get the show to be successful, I will look into having some sort of competition event there in the coming years.

Also, each year in April at Speedworld dragstrip northwest of Phoenix I host 2 car shows, drags, parts swap and party since 1999.

Thanks again everyone for the nice posts here!
Looking forward to meeting people wherever, whenever.

Steve
