Hello everyone, this is my first post on here although I have been lurking for quite a while. Lots of good info and knowledge. This is my first v-drive, a 65 Mandella bought it earlier this year and have been slowly trying to get it back together. Does anyone know anything about this boat? Its out of CA.

Welcome Aboard

In 1972 we bought our first v-drive, a 63 mandella with a 413 chrysler. Great ski boat, a little heavier so it rode the waves well. When motor went we replaced with a 468 chevy which was a little too much for the cavitation plate to control. Purchased a 1974 Hondo runnerbottom and found the right combo for the motor. Good luck with your new toy..Steve

Welcome to the boards!

Love Mandella's. Grew up on them and still have 2 in the group. (a '60 and a '62). Very solid boats. Maybe not a drag race hull, but the boat will mash any chop you run across.. Great lake boat!!!

Carson Brummet (son of Lou) is still in business (Turbo motor guru), and he still has the molds.

Good luck with your restore and where do you boat?

Thanks guys. Ya know Mouzer I think i do recall you from somewhere.:D I need to either build or find some new motor mounts and motor plates, what came with the boat is pretty hokey. Other than that all I need is some small stuff. The guys on v-driveboat have been very helpfull, I see a few of them on here also.

From what I have read Mandella's hold quite a bit of racing history, I think that is cool as hell. I would really like to know about my boat's history I know there has to be someone out there that has seen or been around this boat.
