i have i nitrous kit and was thinking about putting it on the sanger.for a v-drive would it be smart to use a button on the wheel to activate.so i can activate once the boat takes a set.or a wot switch.i know you can get all cool and put timers and all the other crap they are useing for jets.i want to stay simple.anybody running nitrous on a lake boat?like to hear experiances with your setup.

thanks,

Hey fastrogers, how's it going!!!:D I have mine setup where the buttom on the wheel brings in a relay which in turn energizes the solenoids. I initially had it on timers and now it's off the button. Easier to trouble shoot and less crap to go wrong. I know A LOT of these fast jetboats use timers I believe so they must work..

Are you grabbing the button when leaving from a dig or after you take a set ? I was told that you don't want to be on the big end and out of the plates, then grab the N20. It can disrupt the set and get you all out of shape ? How true is this ? I know there are alot of variables here...w/ how on the edge your set up is. In a jetboat it really didn't matter. I plan on running the bottle in the flat soon, so I was just curious.

i ran a 350 shot on my old v-drive hydro it was set up to come on only at full throttle on a micro switch mounted to the carbs, and the power switch for the system was on the steering wheel. so if the boat didn't take a set from the hit of the throttle i would just kill the nos power on the switch. never hit the nos down track..felt it was a fools game! besides my wife was yelling at me from the in ramp to the out ramp as it was she didnt need to see any close calls

as for safety i felt every pass was one step closer to the small 1'' shaft letting go. i think the min shaft dia should be 1 1/8 ''
i will try and get a pic of one of my shaft that has a nasty twist on the keyway slot that i changed out. scared the nos right out of me:)

I would have to agree with ya on that. If I was going to run a system larger than 150HP then I would definitely say you want to have it at the hit of the throttle. My oldman had the same system but setup for a 400 shot and it could be a handful when he hit the button at half track. On my current setup it's only a 100 shot and I don't have a problem hitting it after it takes a set. Boat just tends to accelerate more but the attitude of the boat does not change. I initially had mine set up exactly like havasubyu mentions and just decided to remove it all and go off the button for now. I am experiencing a bad miss on the big end once in high gear and want to eliminate all possibilities if you know what I mean!!!

The jet guys using timers have a button on the wheel that they can release if the boat gets out of shape or we can disconnect the timer and activate nitrous manually from the wheel
hey hows it been?my post was not a dis to the "jet guys".i started this madness with a jet.now its in your neck of the woods.:)hand

I know the guy who bought it. Not sure what progress he has made on it though. Didn't take it as a dis just trying to be helpful. If you are going to run nitrous on a timer you should really have a "dead man switch" just in case something happens and you have to get out of it.
