Get rid of the fuelie or double hump heads and get some vortec heads...even fully ported fuelie heads won't hold their own agains a set of cheap stock vortec heads.

Do you know what cam and intake he was using?

I do not know that exhaust, as I have been out of rodding for a few years.

From the look of their manifolds I have 4" center riseres on my engine. I will look and verify tomorrow.

well hell, I have been doing some checking with stern drive folks an merc engineering, the alphas are only good to 300 officially and 350 by the guys who run them hard.
That means, only a mild cam change, new intake and a holly or edelbrock 650, balance and reinstall. not a lot of fun, but the bucks are big either.
I will have to build a jet or vdrive with the kid when he gets a bit older, hmm.. start to collect parts, you know like a hull. I wonder how I will be able to convince the wife that that hull has been out in the barn for years under the tarp.
any suggestions on intakes and cams?
