I run alcohol in my boat, the oil turns green from the fuel, my question is should I change it everytime I take the boat out or is it ok to run it a couple weekends???? the boat only sees maybe 4-6 runs per day if that

good question cause i think by the end of the race season this year i`ll be going to injection and putting my 1050`s on the shelf.but i need to do some homework cause i have no idea about this alky injection stuff.but i do know i need to up my compression and probably a cam swap. But i dont want to have to change my oil at the races.Someone told me evac system helps keep the oil from being milky. My uncle had to big of carbs on his jet boat and it would screw his oil up enough that it cost him 2 motors before he up the compression.cant wait to hear some responses.sorry if i kind of jacked your thread.Tom

Mechanical Injection or EFI? The sand car in my avatar runs on methanol, four 160 lb injectors in the motor, and one 160 lb spraying directly into the compressor inlet when under boost, all at 60 psi base fuel pressure. I can run it as long as I want, before changing the oil. Meaning, no methanol in the oil.
If you're looking at mechanical injection, and/or on top of a blower, then that is a whole different situation.
Have you tested the oil for moisture content by having it analyzed?

I always thought that if the oil changed color or had moisture issues (Banana milkshake) that it was an air/fuel ratio problem, been 15 years since we have played with alcohol, so buyer beware....:D

Get closer to the tuneup. It DOES NOT have to be that way.

mine is a blown BBC (461)with carbs.since Im only using my boat to race now I would like to get a mech.injection, then change it to run on alky.now it has 8.1 comp.ratio cam = 270 or 280 @ 50 ,i think it is 670 or 680 lift solid flat tapped cam.Im not sure but i know i`ll need to change the comp ratio, and cam probably. Engine maintance

We ran a SBC. We would pull the engine after each drag meet, remove the pan for inspection and necessary maintance. When we ran alcohol, the oil could be stored, it would separate, then reused. Any water in the oil is not frendly to the bearings.
