I'm looking at a 87' Hallett Vector. It has a 7.4 litre with a Bravo1 outdrive. I have only seen pics and from what I can tell, there is no belt driven sea water pump. I asked the seller and he said the early Bravo1's shared parts with the Alpha1. I'm a little confused...
If I were to buy this, and what the owner said is correct, will a newer Bravo1 bolt up to this current set up?

Completely untrue. ALL Bravo Sterndrives use a belt driven sea water pump. They never shared components with Alpha Drives and NEVER had an internal sea water pump. The Bravo drive was introduced during the mid 1988 year. All the sea water pumps were on the starboard side at the pan rail height. The seller is making up info. If there is no sea water pump it is probably an Alpha drive or they installed a Bravo and never installed the sea water pump... which would make me think the boat has not been running with that setup.....
I would be very concerned about buying a boat from him.
