M.H.B. OSCODA MEET

JULY 25 - 26 -- FOOTE POND - AU SABLE RIVER

Who's all in for this great meet? The local LAW man has been nearly extinct so far this summer. Due to cut backs there is only one deputy covering the whole county. You guys that have been here know that noise has never been an issue! So, bring the zoomies!!

Anyone needing directions, camping or motel info, just ask on here and I can get you whatever info you need.

Going to be busy weekend here in Oscoda with the canoe marathon, the bike race, the Indian pow wow and the MHB being in town, so get your reservations soon.

There is a lot of interest in seeing our boats here, so lets have a great turnout!! Just ask Chet and Scott Doak how nice it is up here!!!!!

The die-hards will be out Friday mid-day!!!

That's the truth. Oscoda is just about the best place for a good all out boating weekend. A lot of people show up just to see our boats. Everybody is usually friendly. It's nearly always a good turnout even though there will be a canoe race(which is usually over by 2:00 PM). It's never bothered us before in fact there have been times when we were asked to help out. It's fun to watch the canoe races because it makes you that much happier that you've got and engine to do the work instead of you with paddles. I'll say it again, if you've never been to Oscoda, make sure you get there. It's GREAT. Chet.

The canoe racers don't come across foote pond untill sunday morning and are done by about 1 or 2pm. Saturday will have no issues!!

Old Orchard is located about a mile from the river queen boat ramp. Right on the shore of Foote pond. It has about 500 sites and its own launch. Most are first come first served. There are some 50 amp reserve able sites for $35/night. Standard 30 amp modern sites are $20/night. Primitive sites are $16/night.

They have 500 sites, only 30 are reservable and are probably full for this weekend. The rest are first come first served, and the campground was only 1/2 full last weekend

What kind of camping unit will you be bringing? My brother and I both have seasonal sites at old orchard. I live only 20 minutes from there. I will be down there Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. I will keep an eye out as to how fast it is filling up and I can throw a couple tents on some lots to keep them for the weekend if need be. It might just cost you guys an extra night.
If anyone wants to tent camp, I have room for one on my site. My brother will not be up for this meet so I have room for a tent on his site as well. Just let me know...

Any of you guys needing campsites feel free to call me at 989-335-0620. We can come up with something.

Not sure if I can make it. I stripped and sent my trailer for reweld, sandblast and paint. Not going as quick as they said it would.

The Hallett is sitting on Laura's Tournament Ski Boat Trailer right now. I adjusted it but it's not a a good fit for an OTR trip.

If I get the trailer by Thursday, I can likely make it Saturday for the day.

Harv is coming with his motor home and he always gets a spot without having reservations. Don't use that excuse. You'll really enjoy the event if you come to Oscoda,Flattie, so be there. Chet.

Hell yeah!!! I'll second that. I was at the campground last night and the modern side is 1/2 full now and the primitive side is pretty much empty..

I highly doubt the park will fill up, and if anyone needs a spot my seasonal lot is open untill labor day weekend. mride460 knows how to get a hold of me if someone needs it. LegHump I'ma gonna try to rig up my Vixen with an ancient Merc and make it, it's stripped for paint but I think I can make a goer out of it in time.

well the boat is all packed up. Might not be able to leave til late late thurs night. Truck has paint on it as of 20 mins ago. I want to wet sand and buff it before I leave and put my tonneau cover back on then load up the truck.

Tony & vern want to go but he is in the process of moving a house. & building a foundationi. He hopes to be back boating in another week. I hope too. Kinda boring around here with out the regular crew. The weather doesnt look so hot for Oscoda. hopefully it will hold out an let us run some

That's another thing. I've seen where the weather man will call for thunder storms and he's usually right except it will rain for 5 minutes and then quit. Then again who knows? If it rains, it rains. How bad do want to socialize? I can have as much fun in the rain as anyone. See you there. Chet
