No. My Silhouette runs in the mid 60's with a small block alpha (260 hp), and a 2.4 200 will put it into the low 70's, some are getting into the mid 80's with a 2.4 245 hp.
so then it really comes down to the power to weight ratio right????? outboards will tend to be faster in most cases then based on the info givin so far IMO

Outboards

on a 25-26 cat twin 300 outboards are way faster. a 525 boat will be mid 80's mph. Twin whackas will be over a hundred mph

Over the long haul maintenance on the outboard will be more$$ ( including those pesky "unscheduled stops" for repairs

outboards may be faster but they do not have that throaty man rumble off a big block. either 8 or 10 cyls or 16 or 20 cyls for that matter:)devil. outboards sound like a swarm of pissed of bees on the attack:)sphss:D
