I have a 1983 Webbcraft with a Pre Alpha outdrive in it and was wonder what upgrades I could do to it to make it handle more HP if there are any at all, or what it would take to upgrade to a Bravo or something. Thanks in advance

Figured, what does it take to upgrade to a Bravo drive, is this something that will bolt back in place of the Pre Alpha or do I need a new gimble and mount?

Yes you will need to change out your transom and gimble. They are not compatible. Cutout and mounting holes are the same though. If it an very early alpha, two more mounting hole will need to be drilled.

What is a pre-Alpha? If you have a TRS and are running in the ocean jumping wakes, waves etc. it will hold up to a bit over 500 hp according to a search over at offshoreonly. I only run my Campbell in fresh water and with 575 hp and 650 ft lbs I expect the TRS to last for years since I don't care about the holeshot and I move the throttle like it was a light aircraft not a sprint car.

If you really must upgrade, why go to a Bravo? Just order up a Konrad and it will bolt directly up to your transom plate.

Do you have a Velvet Drive trans? If so and you go to a Bravo you will need to move the engine back or else fab up a connection between the flywheel and the input shaft on the Bravo since the Bravo has it's own internal gearbox.
