I anyone attending this year. Just so happens my family and I will be cruising up the coast with a tow hauler stopping in Pismo, San Luis O, Big Sur and finishing with Carmel & Monterey. Somehow I was lucky to pick this weekend. Turns out the big car event is going on.

Been going for years - will be up this year selling my Ferrari @ the Russo & Steele auction in Monterey.

I usually see the Tour cars in downtown Carmel @ noon on Thurs, go to the Quail Motorsports Gathering on Fri, Laguna Seca on Sat with auctions each night...

Have fun - if you like cars you never see another place like it that weekend.

Cool. I've never been. Looks like a good time. Pebble beach is expensive. $150 for admin per person. Ouch. I guess that's how they keep all the dirt bags out. HA HA....

We've gone off and on for the last (at least me) 27 years. My wife's been going most of her life although we haven't gone for a few years. My father-in-law has an Alfa ex-racer he did for a guy that they're showing up there this year. He usually does a car for Pebble every 2-3 years. He did a Deusenburg a couple of years ago that was runner up. I actually enjoy the Monterey more when we go.
The F-I-L has an old Mercedes he doing for another guy that will be shown in two years. We'll definitely be going to for that one.

I am going, Thrus-Sun. SirBob Whats the lot# of your car?? Registered @ RM and Russo and Steele. Hit the Concorso Italiano on Fri. A Daytona Coupe Is for sale @ Mecum again. Great times, Nice cars.

Lot # 4034 @ Russo & Steele. The car will also be at Concour Italiano on Fri - trying to get a little extra exposure - I think it will have a Russo & Steele banner on the windshield. I am having somebody bring the car to the Italiano event while I will be at the Quail that day.

I'll be hanging around the car Thurs afternnoon at R&S - stop by & say hello.

RM will have a Daytona Convertable... will be intersting to see if it cracks a million - they seem to be off last years high this summer...

What kind of Benz - will Merc be a featured marque that year @ Pebble or Laguna?
It's a WWII era Mercedes. Not sure if Mercedes is a featured marque that year. I don't thinks so. It's just going to take that long to get it ready for Pebble. It's about how long it took for Leno's and Gen. Lyon's Deusenbergs when he did those. Usually 2-3 years. I've seen cars in the shop for 3-5 years before. No Earl Scheib 24hr jobs there.

Randy is Leno's main guy. My f-i-l did all the paint, body, assembly, and setup in Pebble for the Green Murphy J that won BOC a few years ago. My f-i-l did some work on the Deusenberg frame he runs around in as well as the Bugatti Atlantic he use to have.
Randy knows his shit when it comes to Deusenbergs, but my f-i-l is the best when it comes to the paint, body, assembly, and showing!!!!:D

That makes sense - I guess Randy does'nt do everything him self...

Can't wait to see the Benz when its done - here is a pic I took of one of my favorite MBs I took in Italy at the Millie Milla in 05 - Sterling Moss had just signed the hood of the car. This the the car that drove the fastest Mille ever, but I know its a little newer than the one you were talking about.:D

Nice...that's a great memory...

I have a lot of great memories from Pebble. It's really changed over the years though. Not as much of a social event anymore.
We were in Pebble when Auto Union was the featured marque. They had the AU car there with Juan Fangio II. I've a picture with he and my son somewhere. Might have been the same year that they had Leno's car there.

Also had a really nice conversation with Luigi Chinetti (mostly through his friend interpreting) back in '82. Got his autograph. Also got to meet Carroll Shelby the same year. My f-i-l had a Ferrari 250GT (Ferris Buellers Day off) there for Jon Masterson that year.
I've been fortunate to meet a lot people in the industry through my f-i-l.
As a car guy, my marriage probably benefited me more than my wife!!!!:D
Here's a couple he's shown at pebble.
Deusenberg for Gen. Lyons - Won Runner up to Best in show, Best in Class, and most Eligant:

'47 Woody he had there last year - won best of class:

Look for the Alfa owned by Ray Scherr (previous owner of Guitar Center). My f-i-l will be there with that one.

Not goin this year, wish I was cause of the bikes. Our shop will have three cars there. A 27 Lincoln Dietrich that I finished. 41 Chrysler Thunderbolt that we did and a POS Bentley. Carmel on Sat eve is fun, all the Lambos and ferrarris with bunny type arm candy running around. We should get best Lincoln. Tbolt, who knows. Last year we won the London-Brighton class with 1904 DeDion (beat nethercut out). Its in this months Robb Report. I was there with 1908 Niclause. 07 I took the 1923 Mercedes Targa Florio for the Peterson and got second in class :):)punch but we got beat by best of show so I dont feel too bad:D. 2010 we'll have a Isotta Frachini ther and I'm starting a Alfa Superleggerra GT for 2011 soon. Still might go but I'm used to going on the owners dime, gets expensive if you have to pay for yourself! Alfiorno's for lasagnia across from the Normandy Inn in Carmel and Maries (I think it called) for breakfast. hit Carmel Thur for the tour return or go to the pollo grounds and watch them leave early. I'm loosely afiliated with RM we're watching the Ferrari too! And the woodies!
