I recently picked up my gen vi 502 , bored 30 over from machine shop... My rotating assembly is a Callie's 4.250 stroke crank , manley 6.385 rods and flat top SRP pistons. Making this a 547 CI stroker motor... I installed the crank and started at #7 then #5, #3 and last #1 cylinder to install the rods/Pistons. Deck clearance on #3 and #1 looked diff so I checked them... Come to find out the piston to deck at the bottom of the motor, piston is recessed .011 from the deck and at the top of the motor the piston is raised .008 from the deck. Yes the piston was on tdc. Only thing I can think is the block was not level at the machine shop when it was decked. The Pistons were checked prior to install. You can see the in the deck at the top of the water pump bolts in these pics. I have 4k invested in the build and I'm not sure what steps to take next.
