you mean the screaming chicken box? lol- ran one years ago( prob 20+)
what I do remember was that they didn't like narrow lobe sep. camshafts,
because of the weaker vacuum signal, and being that all they really are is
a 930cfm one barrel carb that supposedly self adjusted to the engines
airflow demands, I guess it ran alright, just didn't keep it long enough to
like it! heard they ran OK in a dual app. on a blower- :)bulb

They aren't dual plane manifold friendly, they are critical to how they are mounted on a single plane. Mount them with the shaft across the engine and they run one way. Turn the carb 90* with the shaft inline with the engine and they run differently. They tend to run the best with the shaft run inline. On a blower they are pretty immune to that. they work well on blowers. Maybe better than anywhere else. They are easy to tune, and stay in tune. Have incredable throttle response, but suffer a little on the top compared to a Holley. Nothing makes more low end torque, period. If low RPM torque is what you need. With the way they have Holleys working now a days, no reason to run one except possibly on a blower. on a blower they have some issues in that the float bowls are small and only have one inlet to feed the bowl. They make a bowl extention and a second feed for alky setups that could be used for a blower deal. They could be a decent e85 carb for blower.

They are older than the hills themselves. First they were Fish carbs, then Kendig, then Predators

anyone here using predator carbs? like em??
check with mdsheppie on Michigan hot boats, I think he runs a single on a BBC hydro V-drive, I was going to try two on my FE ford years ago but never got around to do it.:)hand And like GN7 said they don't like dual plane intakes and they are kind of an old time set up. Might be better with a 1050 dominator for flow.

theres a guy in south Arky that has run them for years on his TX-18 with a TR set-up but he knows them well.

he said at the Cove he put NOS on his boat this past summer and was having some issues tuning them for that but felt it was no big deal.

Me i would just go get me some Holleys but if you want to be different then have fun:)

They work good but they have a problem with the way there mounted, turning left, turning right. you have to figure alot of things in when mounting them. degrees from level for lift, when you get the program together they work good.

My brother had on on his Olds with a Torker intake...the carb never skipped a beat. Idled smoothly and accelerated up to a breathtaking 4600 with out so much as a hiccup.
For whatever reason he replaced it with a 750 DP.

so ,on a t/r???
They are pprobably best suited to a T ram and blower. They can work on a single plane, but I would want to be strapped to a dyno, or making multi 1/4 runs to work it out. Their big claim to fame is throttle response. But if there way any real HP in them, you would them everywhere. They have had all the time in the world to make their mark.

ive used em for years in various installations and my thoughts are if i have a choice it will always be the predator,I currently have one on my jetboat runs perfect just a note for most apps. the float bowl needs to be forward not sideways or rearward

I bought a pair of them (used) for the idea of using them on a dual tunnel ram. I never found a t-ram so decided to try one on a single plane. It made my tired 455 olds rev like a 2 stroke, it was like right now. :D It sat there and idled like a purring kitten too, maybe 750-700 rpm. The main knock on them was they dont like to idle ar low rpm (mine did, maybe it was cause it was a fresh rebuild, or there were enough cubic inches to pull air through). The only reason I pulled it off was my old lady was bitching about hot exhaust so I have to go to a covered engine. They arent coast guard approved for a closed engine compartment. If I could run open engine I would still have it on. I ran it with a bellcrank so the throttle shaft pointed forward (bowl forward). I also had a 1" spacer on there too.

I would sell one or the pair if you are interested. One is rebuilt and ready to go (actually my brother is messing around with it now) and the other looks good and clean but would need a rebuild kit cause the gaskets are dried out. Predator is still in business, rebuild kits are ~$30, other parts are cheap too. They are the simplest carb you could ever work on.

I have a pair of those here at the shop? any takers? what are they worth? I want them gone....
For a pair they are worth about $85.00, but I'll give you $100. for the pair to get them out of your shop by the end of the week.

Serious offer.

ive gotta pal with a set on a lil blown sbc in his tbucket that lovesssss em. i put a heater core in his 2002 truck sat and he came out and looked my blow thru lsx motor over and we're about to try to convert his blown sbc over to a single turb blowthru deal using a predator. hope'n it works, they're flow metered, so we'll see.

Hows that going to work with those "doors" of theirs being controlled by vacuum? They aren't mechanically controlled. :)bulb
