Whats up guys!!!!!! long time since i have seen a bunch of you....

So spring time is upon us here in the great state of N.C. and it looks like we are prepairing for the first test run of my first jet boat. I got the engine all tuned up, all my safety gear, etc etc etc.

My last concern is jet prep. I got the jet oiled according to spec but i was wondering if there was any other bearings or the like that needs my attention before i put her in the water.

I have a Berkley 12JE model pump with a Place diverter trim nozzle. Anything beyond gear oil in the well to make sure it does not self destruct?

Edit: engine is a SBC not blown, NOS or anything crazy... its tame compaired to most of you boys....

WOO HOO JET BOAT!!!!!:)devil

Double check all your hose fittings Tighten any that are loose. If your running rubber hoses check your hose clamps.

Oh yea don't forget to put the plug in the boat:D

Thanks for the warning. Remember this, You can steer with your foot. I mean If you dont have power going to the pump you cant maneuver. You need thrust to steer. Also watch your own wake. If you get off the throttle fast your wake can swamp your own boat. Keep your head on a swivel out there. You don't have brakes on water. Jet skiers love to turn right in front of us. :D Ok thats kinda fun scarring the Shizzel out of them.:)devil

Have fun...

Thanks for the wise words. Yes i hope its still early enough to have a pretty empty lake (peope wise) and plan on going low and slow until i know what the hell im doing. Ending up in a wheel chair forever is not my idea of a good time...

Well I live in Charlotte NC so i should be seeing Mountain Island and the MI Mafia at some point soon however for my test launch and trials ill be going over to lake tillery in Albermarle. My buddy has a lake house and boat out there so if i get stranded i got someone to drag my sorry butt back in.

Everyone asks me about Norman however i think thats a bit big for me and my less than ample experience in such a small boat. I'll run around the smaller lakes and maybe one day take it on up to Norman.

As far as tires go, I got brand new tires. However I need to get another set for the rims that where on the trailer originally. I got some generic ones put one for the cross country transport but i want the original ones back on.

But no worries on the not being careless part of all this. My friend was kind enough to send me this photo when i told him what i had gotten as he asked me if my insurance was up to date. (Some friend)

WARNING EXTREMELY GRAPHIC!!!!

Explination of photo:

This is an actual emergency room photo of a fisherman who lost control of
his High Speed Bass Boat in West Virginia .
The warden's believe that he was traveling at a speed of approximately
75 mph at the time of the accident.
He was unable to negotiate a curve in the narrow waterway and
unfortunately for him, upon striking the shoreline, he was ejected from the
;boat and landed on an old fence post.
You can probably picture what happened next, but this photograph really
says it all.
The good news is after about 6 months, this man made a full recovery after
suffering a shattered hip, broken leg, several broken ribs, internal injuries and soft tissue damage. The doctors credited his recovery to the fact that
the post lodged itself so tightly that there was little or no blood loss.
Now, that's got to hurt!
