I cut mine down due to it was hitting on my new axles on my trailer. It took the sharp circle boat stearing away. And turned it in to a go straight fast
mine is a 1/2" from my axle.it has a small dent in the bottom of it from the boat bounceing on the trailer.how much did you cut off ? what kind of hull "brand"do you have.i know what was good for your boat might not be good for mine.just trying to get an idea of what will happen if its cut.dont want to cut it and have the boat track all over the place.

If it's primarily a lake boat, I wouldn't do it. I cut the fin on my Kurtis because we bracket raced it. Didnt' pick up squat ET wise, but it sure hurt how hard it would turn. Of course it did look cooler in the pics when you could see the fin all high and dry ;)

Mine is a sanger circle runner. It had a one piece dual fin made by stellings. now its like 3" in the front down to almost 6" in the rear. I would love to move the boat back on the trailer and put the dual skagg back on it. I love taking passengers around a bouy at about 4800 rpm then flooring in up to 7900 rpm out of the corner. They get a real sensation on an alky burning engine has for power

If you're banging it on the trailer axel's, it's gonna cause problem's... Maybe raise the bunks or move the boat forwards/backwards a little bit...:)bulb
the trailer has been lowered.and when i got it the boat was to far forward on the tailer.i moved the boat back where it is soposed be and it hits the skag.if i go farther back with the boat it bounces up and down at my hitch.sounds like its comeing loose when i go down the road.i think i might trim a 1/2" off for clearance.i dont think that much will affect the stearing.

Don't be so sure about that. Small underwater changes can have big effects. Have you considered un-lowering the trailer. Sounds like someone was trying to make it look cool going down the road, and caused some problems doing so. It may not have enough suspension travel now.
-You could also look at putting some spacers under the bunks.
-I believe trailer tongue weight distribution should be something like 60/40. (60 on the tongue).
-Are you tying the back down? Bouncing a boat around on a trailer is a very, very bad thing to do.

The correct tongue weight is 10% of the total weight of the boat and trailer.
So if your flattie weighs 2000 pounds including the trailer you should have something close to 200 pounds of tongue weight, you could probably get away with 150 pounds. Anything less than that and it won't be as stable when towing, especially when you hit a bump in the road.

Hey crackhead, you are never going to get 60/40 on the toungue with over a 1,000 pounds of engine in the REAR of the boat.

Why don't you tell him how you really feel?

He is confused with the difference between tounge weight, and placing 60% of the carge weight forward of the center of gravity in a cargo trailer.

That's what I meant.
Hey Quickjet, what's the square root of zero?
