FIRST 496 to hit 800 hp marK and has more... Reliable how it is now, we will play more with this but Pics and video will be uploaded tomorrow.:)devil

804HP/825ft/lbs of torque from a 496??

Yep, all I gotta do now is teach young CROSE how to read a dyno sheet. 804HP-825ft/lbs of torque at 4000rpms and on a well respected
fellow engine builders very stingy, but wonderful dyno! Independant Testing!

The Raylar SCR800 Engine is obviously not your brother-in-laws stock block 496! but I will share the specs and info for those interested here and in the interest of accurate information for a forum post..

CROSE asked Raylar to build him a new 800HP 496 for his new gorgeous MAGIC deck boat so we did.

Part of the story is that a lot of 496 owners have asked us and others what can I do to a 496 to make really big reliable power, so Raylar and Crose teamed up to build a very nice 496 and prove this engine is very capable for those who own them!

For some of out there those who seem to be the performance engine experts who say there is no hope for the 496, sell it ,and buy something else, Raylar and Crose are here to say there are many good options for the 496, especially if its done right with the right engineering and quality parts and build. Crose's beautiful new Awesome Metallic Pumpkin Power Plant is a testimonial for all 496 owners who want more!

The Engine:
A stock block block 496 with a .010" overbore for 503 cubic inches, fitted with Raylar's forged supercharger pistons, h-beam billet connecting rods and Raylar's forged crankshaft with stock stroke. The SCR800 is fully machined and blueprinted at Raylar and is equipped with the Raylar BigPower 496 aluminum CNC'd cylinder heads with Inconel exhaust valves, and special supercharger friendly exhaust ports. The engine has Raylar's special grind supercharger billet camshaft, stainless roller rockers, HD pushrods and our MLS stainless head gaskets, special oil pump and engine bearings. The supercharger is Whipples wonderful 3.3L version in full polish with intercooler. The exhaust is a set of CMI big tube sweeper polished stainless headers and the engine is fitted with all the Raylar bling upgrades like, carbon fiber bottles, coil and ECM relocation kits and special HD Raylar engine mounts. The engine runs a Mercury PCM555 496 ECM with full Smartcaft protections and custom programming with the rev-limiter set at 5800 rpms.
(It was still making more power but we left the air fuels on the rich side to protect the engine for Crose's heavy throttle hand! This engine will easily make 825HP with some more air and program tweaking but we want it to live a long happy life! )
Boost a full power was right on 9lbs and she wines like a devil!

This next year at Havasu if a beautiful Magic deckboat streaks by chasing the century mark its probably CROSE in his Magic/Raylar powered beauty!

I attached a not so great picture of the engine, but it really doesn't do the engine justice in its metalic orange and polished trim!

Trying to get video done

IM actually doing a full progress documentary start to finish so i have to add a bunch of still pics etc..etc.. this has now become a project in it self i will work on it this weekend, It will be The boat the engine build from ground up to the DYNO runs, and the Boat now.....


Should be cool when its done, lol time time time.
