Dec. 7, 1941 proved that isn't a wise decision.

Agree. We will now have only 2 forward based carrier groups out of 10. The rest presumably in port in US. Seems somewhat shortsighted. I was under the impression half, or 5, were always deployed somewhere.

2 weeks to respond to Middle East from Norfolk. Kind of like calling the police on 911 as an armed intruder just broke down your front door and you are huddled in the bedroom with a coat hanger because guns of course have been outlawed.

Perhaps if we stopped giving billions of dollars to countries that dislike us and billions more to ILLEGAL aliens we could afford to adequately protect our country and keep military presence.

not a coincidence

dont just think it is a coincidence that this country always finds itself in the "shit" when we are the weakest militarly! we are fast becoming a hollow force just like under carter. thens comes Reagan and the 600 ship navy. the pentagon talked for the last many years of being able to fight two major conflicts at the same time, i contend if something would happen for example in korea as it did in 1950 our military would be hard pressed to throw them back even if they were not engaged anywhere else in the world short of using all out nuclear weapons!!!

Really lame decision having all our ships in port and vulnerable.
If you don't want your stomach turned, never research that move to deeply. The Enterprise was suppose to be in harbor as well but was held up by weather.

The whole story reeks.
specially when you have stuck your foot in your mouth to a public that thinks your a god.

Keep in mind the election is less than a week away! But, this is not a campaign speech. They never are.
Notice the blame game about the Republican congress. Sound familiar.
Scary thing is, the asswipe is still considered a hero and godlike for millions in this country.

October 1940

In New York City two nights ago, I showed by the cold print of the Congressional Record how Republican leaders, with their votes and in their speeches, have been playing, and still are playing politics with national defense.

Even during the past three years, when the dangers to all forms of democracy throughout the world have been obvious, the Republican team in the Congress has been acting only as a Party team.

Time after time, Republican leadership refused to see that what this country needs is an all-American team.

Those side-line critics are now saying that we are not doing enough for our national defense. I say to you that we are going full speed ahead!

Our Navy is our outer line of defense
.

blah blah blah

And while I am talking to you mothers and fathers, I give you one more assurance.

I have said this before, but I shall say it again and again and again:

Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars.

They are going into training to form a force so strong that, by its very existence, it will keep the threat of war far away from our shores.

The purpose of our defense is defense.

You are correct shue. Just moving things around a little bit. Something like FDR did in Dec 1941. Just a little shifting of the forces.

Your are correct shue. Oweblamo isn't dismantling and scraping the fleet. He is just parking it.

Want a dumbass!

What he should really do is give all the military at home and the entire SS a paid furlough in Hawaii for about 2 months. While we "fix" things here!

What reduction? Just moving the pieces around a bit...:thumb:
He's done lots of that since taking office. A small bit of research would see we've dropped in about 20 major world standings since your hero took office and we're headed farther South quick. Just moving the pieces around, indeed.

They're only reducing the fleet by 7. Currently we have 313, but will reduce to 306. What they aren't telling you, and is the most scarey about it is that of the 316 that we currently have, only 288 are active. 28 are sidelined and this administration doesn't want to repair them. The 7 that they are reducing by are worthless. The unfortunate thing is that they are planning on replacing.
Enlistees are also being held up. They aren't taking any new enlistees unless you score high on the ASVAB or have something they need. They aren't pushing for reenlistment either.
Shue believes that it's better to give the money to unions and lazy pieces of shit rather than have a strong military and the jobs that go with it. He believes that all you have to do is hug everyone around the world and everything will be alright. It's called the pussification of America. And the pussies are leading the charge.

Pussies don't lead. They get F*cked! Know what I mean?

Moth balling the fleet and unitelligent demobilaztion is what lead to pearl harbor and consequently, our entrance into WWII. Combined with fingers in ears and a "what does it matter?" attitude of isolationism put us in a pretty precarious position. Thankfully we had a generation of MEN willing to go to war in order to stop the spread and threat of National Socialism and Japanese Imperialism. If we had to do it all over again, fighting those same odds, I don't think the outcome would be near as optimistic for us as it was in 1945.
