Need to transport a boat cross country does anyone on here have any recommendations or referrals to a transport company? Talked to one company and they said it might need special permits due to the width being over 96 inches.

I would not recommend using USip in the fact the mover has to pay them a precentage off the top so you'll pay more. I just shipped a 38' Donzi from WA to Huntington Beach for about $1.40 per mile. PM me and I can give you a list I have. Lots of variables depending on if they have to dead head etc.

working for a towaway trucking company has its advantages... uship is good for some and not so good others... I don't like using it to quote moves for the same fact that pat mentioned... for me to get 1800.00 on a shipment, uship tells me I have to quote like 2250.00 or something ridiculous... never gonna get that in todays market... if people would pay that, wouldn't need uship... my .02

Call her

I have always used Sunny at Giddy Up and Go Transport

Goggle them and get their website and number.

Haven't used them of late but have always treated me right!

UShip

There are extremely good detailed articles and "comments" about Uship at the links below. Actually, they are good for any shipping that a person is considering having done, especially through the intenet.

I think that the 1st and last links are the most educational.

Look at what the state of California has to say about UShip and the cautions that need to be exercised.

I'm pretty sure one post would have gotten the message across.

If you haven't committed to a shipper yet, pm shippingguy on the boards here. He shipped a motor for me in the past and was the best deal around as well as quickest, easiest, and friendliest to deal with

Call My father in law... He owns a trucking company and ships anywhere in the U.S.

I have used him many times for moving boats, and other big things. He puts everything on a 45 foot flat bed trailer. He moved all my molds for me and had oversized permits for each one he moved. he is lic. and insured for 2 million. Gets things done fast and very reasonable.

His number is 951-906-8075 Medina Transportation. Tell him Mike sent you and he will give you a great deal.
