I used oven cleaner on the chrome exhaust on my Harley to remove melted rubber from my boots before I installed a heat shield. Let it sit and do its thing for 5-10 minutes, wiped right off no damage.

After you get the mess off, get a piece of rubber hose to put over the first three or four feet of your ski line to prevent that from happening again. Sort of locking the barn door after the horses have gotten out...:yes::duh::wink2:

I'm running fully water-jacketed OTs, I was naively under the assumption that they actually wouldn't get hot enough to melt the rope. Just my luck that it fell and sat on the base of the flange where the manifold and OT meet, the one part that doesn't have water in it... D'oh.

I'll definately put some kind of protection on it for next time though.
