My girl wants to go to the river in a couple of weeks. She wants to go somewhere we can drive up, dock and hit the bar on the water. Where is a good place to go? And also looking for a place to stay nearby as well. Thanks in advance

What type of boat? This makes a big difference on the river. If you have a 79 ski centurion, you might want to stay up north on the Parker strip. The water gets pretty rough down south. Lately, I've been staying at Castle Rock Shores. They have single wide and double wides for rent right on the water. There is a small little marina where you dock your boat, so your not dropping in right into the rivers current. Lots of good peeps up there, great views of the mountain and your still close to all the Parker strip bars. Now for the bad...the water from the spiget is terrible and not drinkable and sometimes stinks.

Im taking a 18' 77 hallet mini daycruiser jet(centurion is a 19' picklefork jet). The cruiser does pretty good in rough water, but looking for more cruising and hitting the bars. That and she doesnt like the rough water. I will look into the castle rock. Any other ideas?

I'm not even going to lie to you, your going to hate it if your that far south on the Parker strip during a weekend. All my friends have 18-19 foot jets and if they ever go too far south (anything south of Buckskin) they ride with me or on a pontoon. You can get 4-5 foot waves all way long in certain parts.

Check craigslist as well for rentals in that area. Sometimes there are smokin deals to be had on houses.

Yuma in the 79 centurion Dan. Good people there too. A bar at Fishers and one at Matinez too. Your not launching into the current. Oh and the Yuma & Dome Valley locals are great to hang out and shoot the Shizel with too. I'm not to sure on the rooms there. If your interested in Giving the Lower River a shot, you can contact dp85tona or barrymac on where to stay. One of the best time on the river for me. Even with a blown up Blown Motor

Definatly taking the daycruiser since the picklefork only has a 11 gallon gas tank. I really want to head up to the parker or moabi area.
