Picking up some rusty fuel out of the southwind. Fine particle have made it past the filters into the carb. I'd like to replace or restore the existing steel tanks.
Please offer your suggestions.
Thanks!

Dock gas?????

Do you purchase fuel at any "floating gas docks"?? Or gas pumps at bait/general stores on the shore??? Before you go tearing out your tanks be double sure there is actually a rust problem from YOUR tanks... I've watched many people rip their shit apart when there was nothing wrong with the tanks in the boat... The brownish red debris could also be specks of fuel VARNISH breaking away from the inside of the tanks. Do you drain or treat the fuel before winter storage??
Once again, be very sure your tanks are in fact rusty inside before ripping them out....It is a pain in the ass to properly flush them, but it's a whole lot easier than installing new tanks...

Replaced the tanks with custom aluminum ones. The fuel filters were broken I replaced them too. I'm running cheap metal ones from each tank to the pump (elect) and then a clear one at the carb at least until I can be sure there's no sh$&# in there.
