Please be advised that the name SACRAMENTO RIVER RACING WATER FESTIVAL is not to be used to describe the party that will take place at the Virgin Sturgeon on June 28 or any other boating activities. I alone have rights to that name and am legally responsible for activities that take place under that name, so I am told.
It is my understanding Buzz, Bobby, maybe Margaritaville and some others suggested having the party. I have told many people about it and hope to attend myself.
Those that post statements here concerning lack of sponsors, never having any sponsors, and other statments concerning the event I was forced to cancel after 9 months work should refrain from making statements they know nothing about. It is not fair to the people and companies who did stand behind the event like, Rex Hutchison, Tognottis, Tony Adams, Paradise Bar & Grill, John Ambrose & Greg Lennon, Buzz, Curt Crandall and others.
The bottom line was that the fees imposed by the city and insurance fees along with many other challanges simply could not be overcome. When you couple these facts with the lack of response and registration from participants the decison to cancel it was easy to see but difficult to make. I find it easy to fight one battle at a time, such as costs with the city, but fighting a second battle worrying about participant involvement at the same time significantly contributed to the decision to cancel.
Everybody likes a good time and party, especially if it is free, but few are willing to contribute to see that it happens. I find it rather humerous that people in the other thread talk about how many pages it is, how it will be the biggest event ever on the river in Sacramento and there will be awards and just how wonderful it will all be. I hope that it is and that everyone has a great time, I know I intend to if I make it there. One can only wonder if the level of anxious participation in the party had been directed to the real Sacramento River Racing Water Festival if the city and sponsors would have been more pro-active. I know I would have written more checks.
But enough dealing with disappointments, it is time to move on.
SHASTA WAS OVER THE TOP--ENJOYED BY ALL--SOON YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT THE VERY VERY DIFFERENT PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR AND THEY ARE SO COOOOOOL.
