This is a re-post from the V-Drive Forums... but this involves the Comp Jet Racers, please read...

Well it's getting to be that time again...and SBRA has been trying to establish a better date than in March to have a boat race since it has rained for the last 4 years..

Right now we have a TENTATIVE date set for April 26,27, & 28th with Friday being a partial test day like last year.

I just want to hear from all the RACERS as to their commitment to participate on this date. I know it is 3 weeks after Blue Water but if this race is going to be held at all this year, it has to be this weekend..

Please post up some feedback on if this date works for you guys... If we get enough interest...THIS RACE IS ON!

Great!! Last year Comp. Jet was one of the largest categories out there and put on a great show. I believe there were about 10 entries.. Not sure how many nostalgia jets came out. :))THumbsUp

How is the course layed out at Lake Ming? Is it two bouys at each end like LB? Or, are there more bouys at wide end of the lake (pear shape)?

I'm pretty sure Ming is set up with two spaced out buoys at each end, but I also seem to remember 3 at the northeast turn like you said for at least one race.... Ross can straighten out any doubts about how many and where they are/will be.... Oh, and DON'T get your junk wet while holding a boat...... Some kind of bird virus in the water...... Ming also has "Hot Boat" testing on Thursday mornings 8-11, not affiliated with SCSC or APBA, and there is no rescue supplied by Kern County. It use to be $35. per boat, then it was $40., then $45. and the last time we tested there it was $50. AND, if you want to have a safety boat on the water, (yours), plan on having to pay full price to just sit there "just in case"...... Ming is a Kern County "PARK", a DRY Kern County Park, but you can get a daily alcohol permit for $25. that allows 6 people in your party to have, and consume alcohol, IF they're listed on the permit in INK.....Kinda hokey, but it helps pass the time if you're waiting for Saturday to roll around to race.....SCSC buys a "group" alcohol permit and the insurance that goes with it...But that isn't in effect until they get control of the lake.... Oh, and you HAVE to go to town, to the County Parks office to buy the one day permit beforehand.... READ the signs carefully. One racer, who shall remain nameless here, was fined something like $250. because there was beer in his cooler and he had no permit on hand..... (The beer wasn't even his!!!! But he took the hit for his Dad).....
