We are heading down to shasta for the first time and picking up a house boat for a week. Where are good destinations to head on the lake to anchor that thing up. We will be picking up the houseboat at Antlers resort. Any info would be great. We will also have three jet boats etc

Best place on the lake imo is the Pit arm. Its also the farthest arm from Antlers but well worth the drive down. Jones Valley marina is at the base of the Pit so you'll have access to a store, gas, ect........Lots of REAL nice coves and the least amount of traffic on the lake. Second choice would be the Squaw. Some pretty nice beaches up that way, at least by Shasta standards. Stay away from the McCloud arm, worst place to hang on the lake imo. If you want to stay on the Sac arm theres some really nice coves near Obrian and you can allways go into the Marina there for gas and stuff if needed. Hope that helps a bit. If youd like any more spacific info let me know. :)
when are you making the trip??
I like to take the kids up near the damn and go into the coves to the right of the damn...there are some falss and some pretty cool hiking areas up in there, we always spend one night on the McCloud, fairly far up and stay on the East side (sun wont hit you hungover face first thing in the AM :)devil and tend to stay at different spots each night for a change of scenery, you're going to fall in love with that place for sure...

The aria with the falls by the damn is called Little Backbone. Can be a good hike depending on the water level.

We always launch at Jones Valley. (Pit Arm)

We will be on the lake that week with the yellow Miller.
Do you have a flag that I can identify you with?
There is no cell service up the Pit past Jones valley, but they should work everywhere else.

I'll PM you my cell number, would be great to meet.

I would say the Pit Arm has the most isolated coves, and the best "play" water for towing and what not.

If you see this boat, give a wave.

If you are going to boat on the Pitt arm, be REAL REAL careful, especially this year due to low water levels. Most the locals don't do much boating on the Pit Arm since the trees were never cleared before the lake was filled. That area is much better for fishing then boating.
