Went camping one time on Lopez lake (sp?). Gorgeous lake and campground near the coast. Only two lakes I'd consider on the I-5/101 side of the state are those two (lopez and Naci).

Checked out the lakes Sunday. I found it strange that two lakes so close could be so different. My wife agree that while naci is beautiful we would probably go to san antonio.:)coffee:)coffee

Re: San Antonio. My brother in law took his family to San Antonio this past summer. Killer camprground right at the water. With one other family.
Upon arrival kids wanted to play in the lake. 1 mom went down to lifeguard kids. Other parents stayed to set up camp. 10 minutes later, hysterical screaming from the water (lifeguard mom doing the screaming)..

Everyone runs to water to see what's wrong.. kids and mom in water.. So were lots of leaches.. 4 kids in water.. Total of 15 leaches stuck on kids (two on hysterical mom)

Family vacation at San Antonio over. ( They did get a refund from the campground). Rest of holiday spent at Santa Cruz then down to pismo.. They only have sharks at pismo....

Never heard of leaches anywhere before (in california). Givews me the heebie-jeebies just thnking about... Yuck.

Anyone ever hear of that??

Leaches are very common in lakes and from what I can find any lake can have them and likely do. I did a search on google to find this out. If you are in a protected cove away from the normal flow ,and if the shoreline has weeds ,logs and other debree there is a strong possibility leaches are there.
One more thing to keep our eyes open for. I would still prefer san antonio over naci.:)hand:)coffee
