  • Soggy Slushy or Frozen

Well here we are in January and we've hit the brakes on the fair boating weather. Monsoon like storms today and the hubby's next day off Sunday calls for more rain. We usually can deal with a little chill in the air throw on a sweatshirt and we are good to go but pouring rain a no go.

Never the less we are always thinking boating so now is a great time to plan you spring get aways so we have a few suggestions on destinations to enjoy and they are affordable and a quick drive for most folks.

We had a recent stay at the Crystal Cove Resort in Palatka, Florida not too far from Jacksonville. A sweet little resort on the St. John's River multitudes of restaurants along the waterways and springs located of the river. The coves owners were excellent hosts when we were there for the Toys for Tots run and did anything they could to fill in the gaps from transforming our meeting room, setting up a meet and greet buffet to lending the caterer salad dressing anything needed they were spot on. We plan as a family heading up back up to the Crystal Cove Resort this spring for a weekend and checking out more spots along the river we've yet to see. They have a cafe, marina services and are rebuilding their restaurant after an unfortunate recent fire. They do have a swimming pool which our eleven year old is itching to check out. Clean rooms, nice staff, views of the river who wouldn't enjoy that.

Our next suggestion is Mount Dora,Florida a beautiful small town full of unique restaurants and shops and the best host of events. Coming up soon the blueberry festival they plan awesome well ran events if you've never checked this town out on the Harris Chain of lakes you're missing out. Four lakes to run along and enjoy, the Dead River and the Dora Canal. Other small towns along the lake are Tavares and Eustis both have charming waterfronts with restaurant and events. Upcoming at Tavares is vintage boat races in March they host many boat racing events along their shore. It's also home to the Prop Shop Seaplane rides out of Tavares and Mount Dora. Mount Dora is home to the historic Lakeside Inn which has boat docking for its overnight guests.

This weekend there is a boat show over at the Daytona Speedway through Sunday so if your thinking about taking the leap check it out between the rain drops, Our friends BMC Boats will be there they've got any kind of boat you can think of and great deals at the show.

So if you're experiencing soggy, slushy or frozen weather chin up hit the web and plan a get away soon for your next adventure in boating
