gn7...would the "160" on the front possibly refer to a 160 degree thermostat?

Yes. My mistake, 160 dergree. Guessing the water goes in either thru the fitting that has the AN fitting in it, a can bypass to the tee fitting, or versa visa. 160* water out the top. Would be easier to say if it was in my hand But it definitly a thermostat.
