Bringing this up maybe to help with ideas.
Version 2 a few posts down.
We lost 2 rounds this year due to the cast aluminum place calgo steering tiller bending at the hit and putting up nozzle in the boat. I'm sure the factory tiller is enough for most applications but for some reason not for Dillon's driving style.
If the bucket is blown open for whatever reason it either breaks or bends the steering tiller. We modified the factory tiller where it wouldn't break but it would bend it.
The slam of the bucket going up would pull on the adjusting rod, bend the tiller arm down and give the nozzle some up.
The convenience of fine nozzle angle adjustment is worth having it on the pump instead of a huge assortment of wedges..
We built it ourselves and not purchased at a garage sale.
I understand it's purpose. I would just feel a little more comfortable with a heavier hex bar for its job bending the thrust line to whatever angle you guys are running.
Not really concerned about the tiller arm but I do realize that what the fix was in this thread. Just curious to how much the hex bar is flexing while trying to hold that nozzle angle.
I deck mine with the bucket closed but I'm running a fixed nozzle. Does running the Place nozzle make a difference ??
