Just curious. How many of you if any any have ever put enough miles on your vehicle to see the purported cost payoff in the in the long run. I am pretty sure the 2nd and maybe third owners were glad you used it but how about the original owners? Anyone?

When I bought my 1988 Chevrolet 1500 it had 197,000 miles on it. There was so much sludge in the engine I dropped the pan and it was about an inch thick in most places. I immediately started running Royal Purple and that truck with the same engine saw 289,000 miles before it was stolen.

Another benefit was the increase of 1.5 mpg over conventional oil. The decrease in fuel cost paid for the oil every time.

I have Amsoil in my 08 duramax and run the oil changes to approx 15k miles. I also put a valve on the bottom of my oil pan called a fumoto valve so that I can do oil samples and send it in to the lab to have the oil analyzed to see what the quality of the oil is and make a scientific informed decision on when to change the oil. I drive about 5k miles per month. I also run the Asmoil in my boat in the drive and the engine.

It's really not about the cost for me. I will spend whatever it reasonably takes to provide the best quality lubricants for my boat and vehicles. I don't care if it pays off or not. I spent alot of money on them and don't see a reason to count pennies when it comes to the blood(s) of the drivetrain(s).

I bought a used 03 Dodge 3500 SRW. First oil change was Mobil1 15w40 and the truck felt like it ran faster with less throttle. I'm with beer:30, use synthetic it will pay off very quickly.

2002 Chevy Silverado 4X4 with a 5.3L, changed everything (front and rear diff, trans, engine) over to Amsoil on the third oil change (about 15K miles) and the truck picked up a ton of mileage, change the oil every 15-20K miles filters every 5K with a sample to the anylizer.

Truck has 298K miles and will still get 20-22 MPG and will fry the tires on demand.:)devil

2005 Ford F250 Powerstroke 4X4 crew, changed everything over and it will get 25 MPG +/- on the freeway, used to regularly get about 18, truck only has 19,000 on it now, so could still be cutting in, but doubt it. When I first changed it over, it picked up almost 5# of boost pressure on the gauge. (regularly hits 30# under the gun)

I love the stuff, does not matter the cost, I am sure it will pay dividends in the end.

I have been a dealer for Amsoil since 1995.

My old man has always used Mobil 1. He's got a couple crew cab early 90's, one ton, big block chevy's. One is at 430-440k, the other is at 550k, give or take. Both run like new and have never had the motors opened up. He's probably got a couple dozen vehicles between business and pleasure, and everything down to the John Deere riding mower gets synthetic.
