Hey Tommy, this could be a start of a great thread! I had heard it was Irv Brendel after one of his drivers got his legs beat up racing one of Irvs Hondos when he got pitched. Might try posting it up over on the v-drive area too.

I think you have it about right allready. We raced a Hondo Pantera in Comp Jet and Hondo came out with the T-deck about the same time (74-75). We used center steering so didn't go with it but Hurry Round Hondo in K-jet did. I don't think the last Panic Mouse was a t-deck but I could be wrong. Somewhere I have a picture of it with Ray driving at Long Beach the week before he was killed in the boat in Oakland (double boat flip against Vern Admiral) All I can remember was it was a new boat hadn't been painted yet was white with a primer cap.

The Clyde Parkhurst poster is the crash. It was in all the pulp rags right after the crash. Ray ran the boat unpainted at Long Beach, had it painted and crashed in Oakland. I thought it was during competition against Vern when they both went up and over as the photos show. Didn't think practce passes were side by side but might have been. As far as t-decks go give Hondo a call they could help with the history.

Now after looking at the other threads I'm more confused than ever. It might have been the double boat flip was before Long Beach and that he died in the white and primer capped boat after that. I know that that boat was a replacement and it looks like the boat in the poster was an earlier version of Panic Mouse. More to investigate...

Same two boats only this time only one crashed . The boat he was killed in was raced at LB not long before and it was new. Even though the paper says he won as far as my memory goes back it was not during qualifying or eliminations .

The panic Mouse 007 that was built in 1972 was not a t-deck (it is now:mad:) and the deck was a lot heaver than the later ones. It was the last one that wasn't a t-deck, the later ones were. My brother in law bought it and used it as a ski boat. You could walk on the deck it was pretty sturdy.

Beauiful boats, saw this one a few years back at a MHB club meet. The only Cole T-deck I've ever seen

Legend has it that Ray Caselli cut out the first one with a chainsaw and Irv had to fix the deck and that was the first one.
