I have heard that teague can tune on a stock 496 pretty well, that they even got a reliable blower set up. I would trust their work 100%. Im just wondering if anyone on here has taken their motor to them for a similar mod. How did your boat like it? have you had any issues. now that you have the added power do you wish you would have left it alone so you can still run the 89 octane fuel. anyway just some questions i have before i jump in and then have buyers remourse.
My best friend had them do it to his 24' ultra and wow what a difference it made . The boat came alive . It runs just the same as a stock motor. And price difference between 89-91 is only a few dollars on a fill up .
this is what im hearing. I have been researching putting the blower on the 496 for a while. there are a ton of dont touch it threads out there. but i heard about teagues upgrade from a friend i trust 100%. so i wanted to start looking into it. Do you know the details of your friends build? i would like to know more info or maybe just chat with him on IM on here if possible.
thanks.
ya the gas thing was not a major factor but it is nice running the cheap stuff.
I had 496 mag installed by whipple. 60hrs ate a piston, if you are going to do it steel internals and forged pistons are a must otherwise it's only a matter of time. The increase in performance is 15 mph.
u can burn a hole in any motor .too lean too long too bad . Teauge sets them up right and on the safe side. The price difference from filling up 87-91 is 10$ . My buddy isn't a forum member here but I can tell u what I know about his set up.
