When the thirteen colonies were still a part of England, Professor Alexander Tyler wrote about the fall of the Athenian republic over two thousand years previous to that time:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage.

Yup, apathy to dependency. Why else would so many people want MORE government? We've gradually created generations unwilling to embrace the independence, responsibility, and self-determination needed to keep this a great country. We've actually created a judicial system that punishes people that DO embrace it. The government will take care of everything for them......

Quoted for truth.

The lack of goals and drive in younger generations is appalling.
The concept of work, save, and sacrifice doesn't compute for a lot of people.

WISE WORDS FOR THE SEASON

During this political season
let's be reminded of these wise words:

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the
wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting
class hatred.

You cannot build character and courage by taking away
people's initiative and independence.

You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and Should do for themselves

Sorry to ruin your day :D I've just been getting more and more pissed at what's happening. You should have seen Shelley's face when she finally saw the sticker I made and put on the back window of the truck....

I agree. Hopefully we can endure for 4 years and there will be another Ronald Reagan on the other side.
