What do you think the new General Motors stock will do when it is issued in the near future? How many will buy it based on past history (way past). If it comes priced right, do you think you can make a reasonable profit in the first year or so? With the government and unions owning most of it, can it succeed or will it fail?

Why anyone would buy stock in a company run by the Union and the Fed Gov. is beyond me, look what they have done for SS, Medi Care, etc. etc.

Vegas is a better gamble than a socialist run car co.

Point in fact, do you even think that we will get back the money that has all ready been lent to them, I doubt it.

Have you ever seen the government run anything efficiently? Save your money.

Sorry, but GM is not the company it used to be.

It used to be one of the great American based companies. The news right now is that is will be a Chinese based company from now on.

Remember...Buy American. :)hand

Well, GM has been a pretty damn good company at making cars. It just happened to have to have some monster debts from 100 years of massive market share and tons of employees. Shedding all of that debt (and anything else that drives up the fixed costs) and leaving the good parts is not gonna be bad for the company.

Before talking crap check out the newer cars, which are better than anything being made when GM was succesfull in the past 20+ years and then think that the debt has been cut to a fourth. New GM is a much safer bet than old GM was for the past 10 years, and it was at $42 or so just 2 years ago, before everything really went to crap. This was on the analysts evaluation of the product coming and restructuring plan, which was mild compared to what's happening.

So, I wouldn't say it is completely safe obviously, but there's probably a ton of money to be made with some luck.

The UAW isn't running anything, the fund managers responsible for the VEBA will be in charge of their votes. Same with the gov't, their "alleged plan" is to treat it as an investment and maximize return. The gov'ts involvement is the scariest part to me and the only major risk.

Interesting question Burt. I have been watching GM stock for awhile, one of my friends bought some figuring "it has to go up".

GM stock is now at .75, who would have ever thought. There are also some small banks starting to fold and the fdic is stepping in quietly............... Seems like every day is a crap shoot everywhere in America.............:)Unsure

At the craps table, I at least know what I'm getting into, and the rules don't change when Barney Frank doesn't get some sweet young page.

I'll let someone else take the risk, the chance of reward is too slim.

If you had bought the old GM stock this morning and sold it at noon you woold have made 30% on your investment. WTF?
Just the shorts covering. That is most likely the only volume being seen.

In order to actually be selling, there has to be a buyer.
