Ok I built my boat some years ago and working on it ever sense!!! I live in Missouri and work to much in summer to race regularly but I would love to go somewhere like a test and tune weekend that could handle a greenhorn!! Lol, I would love to know what the boat could do!! And never know I may get hooked!! I don't have a clue what kind of times it would run, its a heavy warhawk tx20, I know fully loaded, all seats and both tanks full of fuel it will GPS 102 mph, what events do you all recommend and what kind of times do you all think it could run!! It is a pump gas engine, its set up for nos but I don't have it on yet

If the boat runs a 102 mph it will probably run in the 10 sec bracket. Be prepared there are some really good 10 sec. boats in your part of the country. The guys are real helpful so that should not be a problem getting help. Wheatland Mo is the Lucas home track so you should have a track right in your backyard. Good Luck, if you decide to do it you will get HOOKED!!!!!!

Make your way to a KDBA deal next year.. KY Lake is a great place for a rookie to get a good handle on it and the guys will try to give you as many laps as they can .. Wheatland can be alittle intimidating and the shut down turn comes on quick, you just about gotta dirt track it there, You should be close to a 10 second boat.. Come see us next year, you'll have a great time :))THumbsUp

Looking forward to seeing and meeting you at a KDBA race, Eric. Look for me hanging around a red Texas Tunnel named UNDERDOG, ME-496. Be sure to meet all the safety requirements such as a kill switch, rope deflector, jacket, helmet, etc. They`ll want to see a half and a full track pass. Then you`ll get your wings and know which class to enter. Expect to get hooked and make new friends. Where in Missouri are you? The same welcome mat is out for Bill Oxidean too. Bring em on.

Not to thread jack.. but I'm curious how to get started racing also. I'm in central Missouri. Is there a racing association in Missouri? I wouldn't mind joining the KDBA but I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to make all the events and be competitive but I could do my best. I'm putting together a little Hondo jet hull. Turbo LS deal. Should be finished this winter. I have no idea how its going to run but should be pretty quick. Do they have "test and tune" days? That would be a great way to get my feet wet. Thank you for taking the time to share info!

I just drug my shitbox to the nearest race , paid entry fee and let it rip , wound up in 10sec ME class , didn't make many rounds but it was FUN !
check ahead and meet safety requirements , I borrowed a jacket back then and had to add the rope deflector and safety kill ( biggest items to address )

Like I said earlier in the thread the KDBA guys will give you as many laps as you can squeeze in most of the time if everything is running smooth .. We fire up on saturday morning with 3 rounds of qualifying and then most of the time they will open a test and tune for a few laps .. I've seen them on Sunday give a guy a few laps after he went out.. A national event like Wheatland and Augusta is not the best place to get your feet wet IMO, there awesome races, just not a good place for your 1st deal on the ropes .. We fire up in June at KY lake, come check us out :))THumbsUp
