Thor 27'

I ran into a couple of gents from Nordic who were towing this beautiful 27' Thor east bound I-10 west of Phoenix - in talking to one of the individuals (should have gotten his name) he had stated that with a light layup this model craft was experiencing speeds up to 90mph running a 496HO. I find that incredible. The mobile phone pic does not do the color scheme justice

Was that behind his truck running down I-10?
There is a reason they were towing boats and not selling boats. I call bullshit. If you wan't the real truth call Keith Sayre. The most no bullshit boat guy I have ever met.

'incredible', meaning an incredible claim. I'll believe it when I see it.
Wow.Reality
i know one of the first 27's that came out ran low 90's with a 525. It is really hard to say that a 496ho would be capable of the same speeds unless they lighten the boat so much that driving it would be a real chore past 70 mph. I know nordic has been working on the 27's bottom but i still call bull. Sounds to me like you ran into a salesman....:p
I luv that boat and no it runs 87 with a 525 i was told
28 Daytona with twin 96's run low 100's.
90ish seems really fast for a single 96' light lay or not in a Thor.

I remember the adds they ran in PB where the test results from their write up were "corrected" and the "new" numbers were around 87 with a 525.

*disclaimer*

I don't work for Nordic and never have so I don't have first hand info.

Talk to Keith.
If a stoker doesnt run 90 with an HO, this boat wont.
That is one big claim. In the latest Powerboat Bob Teague tested one with an HO in it for the header swap review. Stock it ran 68 (regular layup) and with the new CMI's it ran 71. If that thing is running 90 it must be A REAL LIGHT LAYUP!!!!:)sphss I remember speaking with somebody(well known boat tester) who drove one and said that the boat was sketchy to drive at speed!
thor

Must be a 525 but probably one of the cleanist boat on the water in my view...
How much do these weigh? Approximately.
The website shows 4000lbs. Does not specify with which layup. They have three options.
maybe the boat can go faster because there is no room in the backseat for anyone to sit comfortably (unless you are a midget and have no legs).

I agree, the cockpit is smaller than my Mach22, hard to get in and out of too.

Mine weighs about 3200 lbs and doesnt come close to those speeds. I'm just sayin'
