Waited to post until I got some speed numbers.
My $500 5.3L pushed my heavy old boat to 72 this weekend (thanks dan)
So can a LS work in a jetboat? Yup. now when I get it tuned it should improve.

Great job with the LS powered jet boat and welcome to the growing group of LS powered boats that are leading the way to the future. Lets hear more about your installation.

Not a problem. You did a great job with your ride. You're welcome to use the gps anytime and like I said my spare wedges for ride tuning etc.

Very Nice sandeggo. I happy to see someone doing something with one of these is the perfect apllication for one instead of trying to make 1000+HP and calling it an offshore motor. Looks great. How well did the SBF headers flanges line up.
Looks way better than trying to keep the godawful looking EFI

Nice job!:)devil
Honestly I'd really love to see this in a lighter hull. My hull is only 16' but there's a reason it has 2 spider cracks in the hull and it's 42 years old. The bottom is 7/8" thick and has 1-1/8" transom with subfloors in the entire boat. The sbf port spacing was very well. I didn't use the ford flanges. I ordered a prebent kit and welded it together with the LS flanges
My plan is to get it tuned up and maybe run in the nostalgia jet class.

Just read your whole thread over on SoCal. Very nice work indeed. If you had to guess, what do you think you spent just on the LS conversion. I know you made a lot of parts yourself. I spent 2K recently just recovering from a cracked block on my Pontiac 400. Hind sight, I think I could have made the change to an LS for around the same investment.

What impeller are you running and how many RPM's does it pull? I just got my 5.3 sunkisst tunnel going and I'm wondering if I'm in the ballpark. Turning a berk B with DPS inducer to 5000 on a tight pump, seeing 70.0 GPS.

I sold everything from my old motor for a profit on the swap.
Motor was 500
Intake was right about 350
Msd was about 350
Headers were 140
Carb was 350
Lines and fittings were 150
Chrome for scoop was 120
Gauges were 300
Misc bolts etc 100
Total about 2360.
I got roughly 2400 parting out all the old sbc stuff on craigslist.
