V-drive...tunnel good, cat bad!!

Here's the short answer.....if this Brendella is a rare one with a center pod (TUNNEL HULL) that's good. If it is like most and is technically a shallow "catamaran", pass on it. Those were evil handling boats. Jocko

That looks like the one Smitt19 had for sale a couple years ago.
The back of the boat looked like a 2" runner bottom and had no center pod.

I'd think it would make a real interesting project but similar to what Jocko said the low speed handling may be more challenging.

this the only pic showing the back the seller posted...looks like a lil cav plate is in the middle only with 2 turn buckles only...hard to make out..

Vdrive Cat

Yes, I had one! They are not spooky if they are set up right. It took time to figure it out but so nice. It is for sale on dragboats.com. Don't believe everything you hear from the so called experts.

I don't know about the Brendella but I can't say enough good about the handing of the 21 Daytona. Most fun and usable boat I've ever had.

Enlighten us please!

Vdrive Cat
Barney's 1st Post!

Well Barney,
Let me say that this is not the first thread on this exact subject (V-DRIVE TUNNEL'S WITHOUT CENTER PODS...IE: CATAMARANS).
All of us (Unchained, LittleJockoCougar, Schmitty, etc.) that have owned (3 in my family) tunnel v-drives (with center pods) have all offered constructive posts outlining the various things we've done or observed while running our boats. If I recall correctly, when the subject came up about Brendella's (shallow) cat, there was not one post that said they were good handling boats (with lots of HP). All of the posts in essence said yes they were fast but a handful handling wise.
None of us are purporting to be "experts" on the subject, so your 1st post comment sarcasm was not neccessary.
So I ask you in a very open and friendly way.......please enlighten us all as to what you actually did setup-wise to get your v-drive cat the good handling. By that I mean a boat that leaves hard and goes straight down the track with no drama. Here's a pic of my 'tunnel' so you know I'm not talking out my ass! Jocko

Where is it?

Barney,
There is no Brendella tunnel or cat on Dragboats.com for sale. I say you're full of BS or a poser. I'm just sayin'..... Jocko :|err

My apologies!

Barney,
OK, now I know who you are!
I've heard nothing but good things about you and your previous and present boats. Yes, your awesome 21' Cougar is on Dragboats, however if you read your post literally you make it sound as is you had a Brendella tunnel/cat on Dragboats for sale.
All of us tunnel v-drive guys have wondered about the NON-CENTER POD model of Brendella drag boats and how / why they apparently don't handle very well. I'll say it again....tunnel v-drives with a center pod seem to work great, it's the catamaran style hull we would like to understand.
So....if you had one of those Brendella's previously, what are the tricks to make it handle? Again, my apologies.....you are certainly not full of BS or a poser! Thanks, Jocko
