how do I get the oil level correct with out the stock dipstick application? this is a canton oil pan with an access for a stick? 350 sbc.

Fill'er up

With the pan on the bench (off the engine) fill the pan to the correct level with a measured liquid. You can use water, but I prefer not to. Insert the dipstick and mark it at that level. Now you know how much the pan holds and have a properly marked dipstick. You will need to add additional oil to account for oil lines, cooler, filter, etc. That should do it.
