I know that Ca is a messed up state but trying to figure out some of the laws and wtf were people thinking when they wrote this junk.
I have owned guns since i was a kid but haven't shot much in the last 25 years, but a little while ago i went with a friend to the shooting range, rented couple of guns and just had a fun day.
I decided that it was time for a new gun so ended up wanting to get a Desert Eagle.( they are now made in the USA )
now the silly laws come into play,
What i want to get is a chrome 44 or 50. and from what i can figure out at is that i can buy a new blue 44 but not the 50 or 357. but then you can get a new 50 or 357 barrel and put them on and that is legal. The chrome gun isn't a banned gun you just can't buy a new one. ( if i find one that is already in California that is ok)
The only way i can figure out to get it now is to have a friend buy one in az then transfer it here ( he has a residence in both az and ca) then transfer it to me.
Any other options? It's not like i am trying to get an illegal gun or one that is on the banned list.

Im not up on cali laws, but Gunbroker.com is a great place to buy. they have a directory of dealers that will receive and transfer for you. i would check the list and call one near you that way you can get current info. usually the fee for each item is really minor.

The reasoning that you can't buy the gun it that it hasn't been tested, and certified by the state for "saftey". It really doesn't make sense, being the only difference between the guns is color and model number, but obviously the state has to "test" the gun which means revenue.

The best thing to do is get an AZ id card. You can buy the gun over the counter in AZ, no wait. Another opyion would be to buy a used gun. They can be transfered, just not bought new.

Yes, as long as it is a legal gun in CA.

It sounds like getting an AZ id is going to be a pain so on to plan b and have my mom get the gun in az and transfer it to me in ca.

Imagine the look on the face of the guy that takes an order from a 75 yr old lady buying a Desert Eagle 44

You cannot legally purchase a handgun over the counter in a state that is not your residence. You can buy it and then they can transfer it to a licensed dealer in your state of residence but the same rules apply as to what you can buy in your state as the dealer would have to be able to give it to you.

Long guns are a little different.

Straw purchases are also very bad.

I love gun friendly states!!!! Utah's the only state with it's own official state gun!!
Utah is mulling over the same laws that AK, WY, & a few others states have, the constitutional carry law. CCW's are common here. My son just went through his class last week.

Now i'm thinking about just getting a black one in california and send it back to the manufacture and they can chrome it.

Theres a place on the East Side of Apache Trail Rd called AJI. They have a pretty good selection there.

I hand gun list is for guns that can not be sold by a dealer in the state of CA. You can own any guns not on that list just can't be bought new in this weird state. Some manufacture just don't want to spend the $6000 x 3( i think that is the cost) guns the state awants to destroy.
