this is what I don't get about the system, If you are book'd for a crime
and waiting for your day in court, why do they keep you in jail?
shouldn't your sentance start after you are convicted.

I can see if you were going around kill'n people

but the chances of this crime being commited again (if it ever was)
is surely zero

they let crack ho's with aids out on O Rs, then pick them up again in a
few days.

seems like he should be O R'd with a restraint order

The severity of the crime and possible sentence, if convicted, is one of the things considered when determining bail. Something like this has the potential for a rather lengthy term. That is a real good incentive to flee the jurisdiction. It's not always for the protection of the victim.

A hefty bail gives a real good incentive to appear, and allows Dog to come after them if they skip, without all the constraints of the police. (search and seizure, etc)

Any time spent incarcerated, pre-conviction, is credited against any final sentence. If someone has spent 190 days in jail and gets a 1 year sentence, they will only have to spend 175 days on the sentence. Probably less, due to "good" time and overcrowded prisons/jails.

I'm not saying that Mr. Taylor would flee, or even that he'll be convicted. Just what the general rule is in serious criminal cases.

Next court date: 2-23-09

Can start having visitors on 1-24 if you are interested Steve...

If anyone plans on going to visit him, DO NOT discuss any of the charges or question him on his guilt or innocence. Just see how he is, ask if there's anything you can do for him while he's there, and give him whatever support you can. Also do not contact the (alleged) victim or any potential witnesses on his behalf.

These conversations are TAPED and anything he says CAN be used at trial. And even giving a seemingly harmless message to the victim or witnesses for him can be charged with tampering, which can be nearly equal to what the defendant is charged with.

They give you back your clothes, belt, watch and the rest of your stuff and send you on your way.

I don't think what I wrote will ruffle any feathers. My post was about general confinement and release policies, and made a point that the specifics didn't apply directly to anyone's potential guilt or innocence.

You get to consider it a vacation, naturally after they ruined your name, ruined your business, and you've lost your family and friends... Innocent people go to jail all the time, not like the judges or attorneys really give a fukk.
