Hello,
On a 460 Ford with twin 10" Ray-jays, what size waste gate is correct. I have a line on a couple of Tial 38mm. Are these good enough or do I need the 45 mm units? Also, where do you guys buy your exhaust log gaskets and the T4 gaskets?

Jack,
from what I have seen bigger is better. It gives you more options for running a lower boost. To be honest I have been reading up on this lately. I'm not a turbo guy. Hope one day I can put one together. Depending how big your turbo inlet is and how much boost you what to run for the given CI. I would say 60% of the turbo inlet.
But I may be wrong someone should reply with a helping hand. Calling all turbo nuts!

i say at least the 45mm my twin turbo SBC with 66mm turbos has the 40mm turbosmart gates an with a 5psi spring an boosted 16psi on the dyno the 40mm waste gate cant dump the exhuast efficiently so cant control the boost we even run the gates with out springs 100% open n it boosted 14 psi

Big as you can fit.i run twin 60mm gates now on my deal so i can turn boost almost off if i wanna.325ci

The gate adapters and or risers that accommodate a gate have a 38 mm hole in them. Am I wrong in thinking anything bigger than that hole is a not much help? Kind of like attaching a two foot long x 1/2 id hose to a water valve, then adding a 2 ft x 3/4 id hose to the that; you still only have the volume of what that 1/2 id hose can flow. Right / wrong???????????????

Then thats as big as ya can fit on those unless ya wanna modify them 38 sounds awful small to me for a 460ci deal but it may go as low as 10-12lbs fine.

38 is to small i could not get 40mm to work with 380ci modify what you have or build a set of headers with big gates dont do what i did i have a 2400$ set of headers built they guy said 40 were more then enough well they were not an im just dealing with it an its fustrating not being able to realy keep the boost were i want it so im out 2400 an probably refab the tubes on the header for the gates or use a bov in revers to see if that works do it right the first time it cant hurt to be to big
