i don't think we've hit bottom yet, when states start folding under the pressure, it'll depress the economy that much more. shit , just the gm bankrupt news killed the biz at our dealership even though we got renewed contracts with gm. people think we're closed cause the news said so:)sphss

if peeps will turn off the news and media all together, the economy will turn for the better imo.

E - One year ago economist's were saying that the DOW had to dip below 8,000 and set that as a benchmark...

It's pretty simple, when investors feel confident and capitol is available...

I personally wouldnt buy one single share of ANY stock, the corporate executives don't give a crap about shareholder value and loyalty... Earnings/Debt/P-E/EBITA are all smoke and mirrors, a casino blackjack table has better odds than gambling in the stock market...

Our Democrat administration has the table set for complete collapse. Do the math yourself.
Debt beyond recovery
Unemployment rising monthly
Foreclosure rate holding steady
Housing industry crushed like a bug
Banking industry in complete shambles
Printing money like counterfeiters
Taking control of the world's largest corporations
Raising taxes on the few money-makers left
Military spending decreases across the board
Positioning for the most liberal Supreme Court in recent history
Preparing the elimination and/or revision of our bill of rights
A large number of states implementing their 10th Amendment rights
Immigration reform - in the wrong direction
National Health Care with no money to fund it
800 trillion dollar "stimulus package" which stimulated nothing beyond anger
Socializing our country in general
Firearm sales out of control
Ammunition depleted from the largest supplier's shelves

Should I go on?

I'd say, only the people can take this country back at this point and I fear it will have to be done with force as everything I mentioned has happened under this new administration of buffoons.

Like the gentleman you spoke with, I have been in the boat parts and speed equipment for almost 40 years. I have never seen it this slow. Most I speak with daily in the industry have not seen it like this either and many in other industries as well. So at least in our industry things are pretty screwed up. I am not expecting a quick recovery. A few years at best.

With regard to new boats, it will likely never recover to what it was. Both for economic and government regulatory reasons. Catalytic converters and other emission requirements are here or just around the corner for the entire industry. New boats that are truly high horsepower will become even more expensive or perhaps just not available other than do it yourself reworks. I suspect the government will eventually even restrict those some way.

I'm guessing either 5 to 8 years for a semi-recovery. Prosperity the way we've known it is over. If this clown retains power for another term, you can forget about your business being what it was. It'll be over. In many ways it already is over if traditionalist Americans do not stand up. I truly believe that we (those in their 30's, 40's and even 50's) and most certainly the up coming generation, will witness the internal self destruction of this nation. Gloomy and grim I know, but that's where we're headed. It's where all once prosperous countries go once they get on the path we're on.

It all depends on when and if the American citizens who supported HusseinO and this circus he has put together, wake up and have their fill of higher taxes, costs, bureaucracy, and loss of Constitutional rights.

Business cannot survive as with know it with all the added baggage this Admin is bringing with it. The Chinese and other trade partners are seeing the increasing US debt and will begin to figure a way to keep the US's problems from effecting them. They, from that point, will take over our foreign markets with their products and those they don't or can't will be serviced by former US based companies that will leave the US, relocating in other countries with better business environments.

Several things are becoming real possibilities if we cannot stop this insanity. Businesses will leave and take the jobs with them. States like TX will secede and break off on their own. Either way there is too large of a segment in this country that cannot and will not stand for much more of this.

I'd prefer to live out my latter years in peace and relaxation, but if the current Admin continues to destroy that ability through weakening the value of all I possess and tries to pass it out to lazy stiffs and 3rd world refugees, I will have nothing better to do with my time then revolt.

The more Chairman O pushes the people and causes more frustration, the more the typical apathetic everyday citizen will become prone to seeing no other way out than fighting back. When the average citizen with an education, feels the government has pushed him to a point of hopeless demise, the more likely it will become that citizens will organize and strike back.

I never ever thought I'd see this type of action, but the idiotic decisions that are being made and the arrogant push of these socialistic plans are making me firmly believe revolution of some sort is becoming inevitable. Too many have worked to hard and sacreficed far too much to allow a whole lot more of this to happen. We've lived through a number of bad Presidents and poor government decisions, but this man is like no other before him. Coupled with Democratic turn to socialism and the apathy of the Republicans to fight back.our Congress is far from capable of turning the tide.

This movement didn't happen overnite and it won't be stopped overnite. O isn't trying to stop a recession, he's trying to institute a complete overhaul and rebuild with a Marxist/Facist/Socialistic model and until something dramatic happens to stop it, our days of life resembling the past are over.

I hope I'm way off base on this but I'm scared as hell I'm not.

I honestly at this point in time am in more fear of Obama than I am of Osama........:|err
