hey guys, would like a little help to sort through the good and bad. wanting to get a dual o2 wideband system on boat, been looking at the aitronics o2 red alert to the innovate lm-2 wideband meter and the one from fast. the more I look the more I don't know, there are so many brands out there I don't know which way to go? I am n/a 565 and adding nos . I do want a dual o2 system but can be a meter or permanent. I do like the red alert for its safety. any brands to stay away from or to stick to? thanks!

The Innovate worked well for me.
All I've ever used is a single O2 sensor on closed loop and that has worked great.

There was a time when Innovate was virtually the only game in town. Lately they have been asleep at the wheel.

The AEM, RPM Performance Products, Techedge, NGK Powerdex AFX, are all faster and tend to be more accurate compared against a 5 gas analyzer.
For my money, I would go with the Daytona Sensors WEGO unit, or the Techedge WBO2.

If you are just looking for a gauge on the dash to look at, I'd go with the AEM.

Wow...look at Bob being "with it" on modern technology. I'm kind of impressed.


I still like my old Innovate LM-2...but like Bob said, I think there are better choices when buying new now. The NGK unit is not something I'm familiar with...I'll have to look into that one.

there is nothing wrong with the Innovate. But the majority of the O2 sensor packages are really controllers, and most data log as well.
If all the guy wants is a gauge to look at, the AEM is probably the easiest to deal with. My first Innovate was a LC-1 and even it was a data logger wannabee. But it was the only thing at the time that the RacePac GX2 was compatible with. Sssssh don't mention I would even own such a thing, and I will deny ever using it. I ONLY have it because it draws cute little maps and logs lap times. :secret:

BUT, I still look at the plugs before even considering the logger. The logger only knows what is happening on one side of the engine, or both collectors at best. Averaging doesn't get it done, but its a decent GUIDELINE. I know more from the plugs than the logger could ever hope to tell me.

Innovate.. worked great full time in dry headers but would not show up on Go Pro for review, also had to extend the wiring 12'







FAST comes with 12` or 20' wiring no need to splice. I can only get my o2`s to last a few hours, tips are too short and 02`s gets wet.

I run a "FAST" meter and haven't had a problem with the O2 sensors, but I do have another problem.
I also purchased their rpm adapter/reader and I have never been able to make it work correctly. It will
display rpm's all over the place, so it's not just set for 8 cylinders. I actually purchased two of them
and neither will display the correct rpm.

I tried connecting to the coil wire and the tach output connection, neither place makes any difference.

It was sent to Fast and supposedly re-programed, but nothing changed.

Has anyone else had this problem and how does it get corrected. In other words,
what am I doing wrong?

It shouldn't make any difference, but mine is programed for running E85.
Yes, I run E85.

I use the LM2 from Innovate, works well. You can data log with it onto an sd card so can be viewed later on the laptop. I think you can log like 700min on a card. It will log several other channels as well, and Innovate sells pressure transducers so you can log look at anything you wish to log. The 02 sensor is a common Bosch part # that you can pick up at any local parts house. I switch between unleaded pump gas and C-16, the leaded race fuel is hard on the 02 sensors, but I still get about a season out of one.
If I have one complaint it would be,Its not as nice of a permanent addition to have to look at in your boat as the AEM guage would be. But now that I am used to having it on board I wouldnt want to operate the boat without it. Without one your kinda flying blind.

I like my aem in dash wideband but if i had the money to spend id buy the innovate just to have the other inputs to datalog.
ive never herd amything good about plx stuff

After loosing the first few weeks of boating trying to jet my new blower motor. I added EGTs and got even more confused. Then I posted a thread about my dilemma and everyone suggested a wideband. Special thanks to GN-7. I looked at them all and settled on the Innovate MTX-L and added 18' cable extension. Problem solved. What I thought was lean was actually just a bit fat. One jet change and never touched a wrench to the motor again all summer (except motor and drive lube changes) I would never consider a high performance motor without one. I heard the sensor was unreliable and spendy for the AEM and NGK units, and the Innovate is super easy to re-calibrate and was the only one that was waterproof. That is why I chose the MTX-L. Comes with different colored gauge faces too. Oh yea.... made in USA

I use the Innovate LM-2 and love it! They also make an in dash gauge that I think will interface. They are close to me in Huntington Beach, CA. and there service is great!

Yep.

the aem sensor is 65-70bucks locally ;) its not expensive as far as wideband heated oxygen sensors go.it calibrates itself everytime key is turned on as well.
