first tell us about your boat.;)congrats on the buy.

this is usually the case 70plus mph, theres alot of them out there that are like yours.

give all specs on the hull and engine build plus any info on the pump you can and i bet there will be plenty of help.travis:)hand

it is a 76 omega bubble, has 5 hours on a bbf with forged crank, rods, ported cobrajet heads and port matched high rise intake, edlebrock 800cfm carb, forged alum dished pistons, msn ignition, duel valve springs, flat tappit cam, hardine water log manifolds, has a yj jacuzzi with nothing on it. i had tried to call the guy i bought it from to see if i was doing anything wrong but he would not answer or return calls. it was running on pretty smooth water at about 5300 rpm. this seems slow to me and the guy i got it from told me it would do 70+ with just him in it and mid 60's with a couple people in it.

Tell that guy you bought it from that i got him covered with a 21' jet boat and a bone stock 455 olds with 30 years on it and the pump. That sucks! these guys in here should get you squared away!

Sorry, but I doubt it was ever doing 70+ unless he was talking about when he was towing it to the lake. :p That said, a friend of mine has that same combo: Omega bubble, Ford, with a Jacuzzi YJ pump. When he got it, he ran it few times, think he GPSd it around 50-52 mph, something like that.... He went with an Energizer kit from JetBoat Performance & was really happy with it. Between that & a 521 stroker, he definitely got some more mph out of it. Not sure what speed he ever came up with though. 55 maybe? J/K I really don't know, lol... :D. He's not on here much, you may try PMing him though if you want some more details. PRO53 is his username, he'll be able to answer some of your questions. I'll see if I can't get him in here for ya...

If I had it to do all over again I would pull the pump, have the glass work done and set a berk in it. For the money I spent on the energizer kit, place diverter and droop I could of found a used berk and had the thing set up right with a ride plate and shoe. It did make HUGE differance in the boats performance, the hole was was way better, the added place diverter helped with the ride and trying to free the boat up. But like I said if I was to do it all over again I would have gone another route.

My old jet had the golden eagle we went with the energizer kit back in 89 or 90 right off the bat it was a big improvement.

Over the years i learned the pump is where its at.I later had MPD rebuild, rework the impeller, and do some bowl work,I added a diverter too this was the best investment i made for that boat.speed went up rpm went down fuel milage went up.

i found this pump on craigslist in my area

Berkley 12JG Jet Drive with a AA impleller, droop snoot, hydraulic diverter, speed grate, only 10hrs on the pump

he wants $1800 for it. is this a good deal? and any idea how much would it cost to get someone to install it? thanks for the help

The YJ and G/Eagle Energizer by American Turbine, is (and has been a huge success bang fo b) Josh and I have built and installed countless units over the years and always with good /positive results . Generally it will be a huge improvement in the performance that stock YJ offering can offer ,increased efficiancy and overalll performance gains (not to mention the ability to use Berk style Bolt ons, place diverter ) I can honestly say I,ve never had a customer regret the "upgrade" (maybe the credit card statment ;)) Tom

what kind of mph could i expect to gain with a energizer kit installed?
From my experience at least a few but motor rpms will be reduced as well = more effecient.Like mentioned by above poster added bolt ons to further improve.

Wish i had a pic of mine but it basically looks like the one posted by jetboat performance.Mine was the golden eagle too.

It will cost you that much just for the energizer kit, then you have the install of it plus the diverter

how much would i be looking at to install the berkley?
Blaine the short answer is , Whatever you spend on purchasing the Berk pieces or assembly and the repairing or rebuilding it as well as the glass work and installation , The YJ opening/cutout in the hull is significantly larger (wider) than the Berkeley and requires some effort to make the Berk intake fit properly The cost may be "relative" its hard to say without knowing what youd spend for the Berk the intake and related hardware , supplies (epoxy resin etc) Tom

Here the problem I'm having. I have no intentions on getting rid of my boat. I love my boat. I did the whole energizer deal and it was a great benifit to the boat from the stock YJ. Now (several years later) I'm looking for a little more performance. If I would of done the the conversion to a berk I would or could still install a shoe and ride plate. With the energizer kit I'm stuck with what it is. So think about the future of the boat. Are you going to keep it? Are you going to dump it after a summer of use? At this point I wish I would of converted to a berk instead of doing the energizer. Good luck on your decision

Okay I have the same boat 1976 omega bubble. First off, If you want to go fast get another hull. Its too heavy. I could proably get more out of it but I spent around 9000.00 in up grades and gained around 13 to 14 mph. I put the engiizer kit in from Tom. Tom is great guy and he sells good stuff. Very easy to change over. I have a droop, ride plate, and around 630 hp 521 stroker. I love my boat. I can fit a cooler and 5 people in it. :D Last time I GPS it was around 64.8, I was off on the tune a good bit, with it tunned I might gain a couple of more MPH.Orignally with a mild bb ford it ran 52. I wanted to go fast so I bought a Hondo flatty I am building.:D My boat throws a nice rooster, looks nice but not the fastest. I wouldnt go changeing to a berk. Omegas are ment to be family ski boats. Not trying to burst your bubble or anything. Trying to save you some money :D
Heres th yj, with the engizer kit.
