Fresh built engine that got water in it luckily i have a few extra blocks and freshened one up to sell original motor. I am replacing floors this weekend and am looking for material recommendations. They used lag bolts directly to the top of stringers luckily no major damage to them!

    So the plan:

Just ordered Callis crank and rods 4.25 6.385 SRP 10.25:1 to make 496, have Edelbrock marine heads going to call Clay Smith for one of those magic hydraulic roller cams.
    Hope to make 600+
Want a 75 mph safe cruiser, if / when I go over that ?

I have a banks twin that I would like to go to efi at a later date, I love period correct stuff.

    What I need.

Change cavitation plate actuator to under the floor.
Need to upgrade actuator shaft to 7/8 and new pillow blocks.(What material?)
    What width cav plates?
    How long on eye levers?
Need help with center cav plate?
Have some sexy swim step mounts and step/teak to set rid of the crap on there.
want to keep engine in the 6k range have 16's need prop rec. and gear rec.
Keeping original interior for this season.
Trailer getting new boots and some westerns but wait to paint this winter.

What are the thoughts on single cable steering? I have A calgo and all the parts in first boat to swap?

What hull is that, Spectra ?

Just noticed, the dash doesn't look like a Spectra.

Eliminator. By the way thanks Bildoe for the hook op other than the DMV debacle.

I have always liked the double step deck even if they are not the best performing boat out there!

Nice Cruiser. Just for safety and performance, I would put the calgo steering in it and use a clam shell on the rudder post. Way better than a push-pull cable set up, particularly for vdrive. I would also try to keep the batteries away from the bilge area and away from the vdrive if possible. Good luck with the build!

With a bigger boat, I definitely would move the weight back to the rear of the boat if possible. The batteries at the rear transom make a lot of sense to me, and it will get them out of the Vdrive gear box area.

    Default Update

So a little slow going at the moment, work kicking my ass but have boxes of new parts/bling showing up and all of my material/rigging here now. Time to get some work done!
Changing steering to calgo, new cav plate set up/pillow blocks /center cave plate stainless plates. new gauges bezels and spun up a steering column bezel on the lathe.
The swim step brackets were an abortion so replace everything!
