I was contacted by a Mr. Junji Nakamura on another site and he sent me 9 different clips he shot at the stadium on his 16mm camera back in '67. Junki and his brother drag raced at Lions and did a lot of surfing back in the day and rarely went to the stadium so its pretty cool that this footage exists. I haven't figured out how to download the footage yet but he's posted 3 of the clips to youtube. Some are short and quick, others are a few minutes in length, all are cool to watch. I love the background stuff as much as the boats.
No sound so you'll have to put your "Big Sounds Of The Drag Boats" record on the turntable while you watch.
More to follow.

Rigger, Those home movies are neat. In the Part 2 movie, starting at 0.41 seconds to 0.56, I was turned on to see the Stevens hydro that my Dad bought from owner/racer Bill Dirksing "Too Much" #150 . It's the same boat I restored and have today......running great some 50 years later!

Rigger...what are the odds....I actually DO have the record album "Big Sounds of the Drag Boats! A land drag racer and good friend, Stormy Byrd, gave it to me years ago, knowing I liked old Drag Boats. Too funny....
