Default out of state vehicle into california.......... questions...........

Anyone have advice regarding buying a vehicle out of state, and to later bring into california? this would be a new pickup of significant cost, so tax liabilities are huge.

    anyone-?

When purchasing a new out of state vehicle be sure it is a 50 state smog legal vehicle. When you bring it in if you didn't pay sales tax you will need to pay it here, if you did pay sales tax bring the paperwork and if it is higher here in CA then you will owe the state the difference. If it is a truck you will need to get a certified weight slip to register it and you will need to bring the truck to the DMV to get the VIN. # verified.

Agree with above. Also, under the hood, if it's newer, should have a decal that indicates if it's CA emissions approved. If not, smogoing could be an issue. But not if you know the right people. Or me. Lol

    Default New Car California

For a new car to be brought into California as a previous resident, the truck will need to have at least 8,000 miles on it unless you were military or you totaled your car while on vacation out of state. They do this to protect car dealers.
