    Default Sundown Daytona questions

I realize this should maybe be in the "Outboards" section, however the history about
Sundown Marine leads me here to "the professors" for some intell please.
A buddy of mine came across an 80's Daytona OB tracing back to Sundown in H.B. CA. (DYL)
The Biesemeyer top deck was rather obvious... So I dug in here & did my research.
Although Sundown's reputation was not stellar, let's not talk trash about anyone. Just looking for info.
We know Sundown purchased & used molds from "some of the great builders" back in the 70-80's
Don't know much about the lower hull here with the 150 OB. Could this be "Beezer" molds too?
Full stringers, 1" I think. Looks like she was rigged properly w/ offset motor, saddle tanks, etc.
Deck has some "sun spider cracks" & a few minor stress on the hull. Nice Competitive tandem trailer
Boat hasn't run since 2001 & needs to be gone thru. Family said it ran great. (Owner passed I believe)
My instincts tell me if it is ALL Biesemeyer, it could be a nice 90mph+ with more motor & right set-up.
Could there be any value or is she just another 50mph family ski boat?
    Thanks

I knew Bob Long back in those days and also bought a 19 mini-daycruiser My father and I had a parts store just down the road from him and he was a customer at our shop. I will say the he did good quality work and rigging was very good. He bought many molds and also had boats layed up by "others" and hung the daytona label on them. Speaking of the boat a I bought from him the workmanship of the boat was top quality. I watched it being built from the start. Bob got alot of bad rap by people that wanted everything yesterday. The boating industry just has a shady rep from alot. My 02

Just going off my limited experience with outboard boats, I'd guess that might be scary to drive at 90mph with the lack of a delta pad or tunnels.

In regards to the Biesemeyer aspect, they might have used the jetbote mold and rigged up some outboards? Thats not the bottom any of the guys here would know about, thats for sure. I tried to dig up some pics of the Bies jet hull and it looks like the chines came down further? So maybe the bottom is something totally different? In your pics the outside is cutoff so you really cant see. I'd check with the jetboat guys, that bottom is much more in their wheel house, If you find that deck attached to a flat bottom let me know =)
